Knives aren't good because you have to be close range to your attacker. It's also a very violent thing to have to do and most people balk.

The swords are more of a collection, correct? You can be peace loving and still have weapons. There is nothing wrong with being safe.

So you will teach your kids to be good victims, instead of properly educating them, it is human, and animal instinct for self preservation, and you will dishonor them by telling them it is not ok to know ways and how to use the tools responsibly to do that, just because it hasnt happened to you or someone you know, doesnt mean it wont. Also, would you rather you be the one to teach them responsibly, or someone else in the world that you dont know, like friends or aquaintances, or movies and tv? To keep things from kids only enhances their curiousity, and you cant shelter them from knowledge that will never disappear. Relying on the police has gotten more people killed than not. Violence is a fact of life whether you believe in it or not, denying critical, and self thinking will be detrimental to your kids, and make them ignorant, hence dumb to it, and it will be your fault. If you teach them the difference between right and wrong, it wont matter what tool they hold in their hands, dont teach them to be sheep, teach them to be free and masters of their own destiny, and help steer them on the right path. If you dont, someone else will, and who knows what they will be teaching them. Be a good parent, dont be an advocate for cowardice, or for using a spoon when a fork is needed.
