Gladiator is one of my favorite movies! Joaquin Phoenix was awesome as Commodus! Commodus was complicated! On one hand he was blackhearted,evil and powerful! One the other hand he was insecure and crazy! Just like some the real Rome leaders! He should of won an Oscar for that role!

I agree, a truly great performance by Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus. I'd dare to say even better than the one he did of Johnny Cash. He's sort of an underrated actor, maybe it's because of the name that he carries...

my name is maximus decimus meridias. I had to actually copy and paste that name into the response lol. Joaquin was freakin great in that movie! I was on like the edge of my seat when I saw him come out to fight at the end.
