Anyone Else Have This Problem With Vista And Firefox?

Every now and then the little circle on Vista will start spinning around (for those who do not use Vista, this is the equivilent of the hourglass) then the screen will get a shade lighter, and everything'll just hang, and then the program will close....usually when I'm right in the middle of something. This happens to me a few times a day, and it drives me nuts! Anyone else have this problem? What do you do to fix it?

Does the title of the program come up with "Not Responding"? If so this is just something about Windows that always happens and is not aviodable, is does accure less often if you have more RAM. I would consider upgrading if its low, and also it happens less often in XP and Windows 7.

Darn that happened to me a few times too, and I hated it...big time!!!! I actually had to physically turn of the stupid laptop because |I wasn't getting anywhere.ANd on the bar on the bottom it says "stopped" I read somewhere that in some cases it is a conflict with Zone Alarm, but I am not sure because it happened with my daughters laptop as well and she doesn't have zone alarm. Hopefully some people will have more ideas in this discussion.

I don't use Vista. I'm still on Windows XP but I do use Firefox. I don't appear to have too much trouble with either of those, and my computer man did say that Vista are having a lot of problems. He says it doesn't work too well, so I stuck with windows. Brightest Blessings... I hope you get something sorted soon.

I had this problem recently where a message would pop-up saying "run-time error" and then shut down the program, then "Internet Explorer is restarting". And then I installed the new Norton and it stopped... for a bit. Now I get a blank gray box come up (says something but it happens too quickly) and I get shut down and Internet Explorer starts up again. Interesting that I am not the only one this is happening to. Do you use IE? I thought you were using Firefox. My techie neighbour said he changed over to Firefox and blamed it on IE. I have learned to tolerate it... though my kids have said the same thing happens with the PC which is XP on it. I haven't seen it happen there though.

I do get that error sometimes. It's usually when the program freezes in Vista, and not it's just not Firefox. I've had other programs running and it does that. I don't think it has anything to do with virtual memory because I have 4GB with my system (plenty enough!) and my system only uses about 56% of the available RAM. What usually solves the problem is doing CTRL ALT DEL and closing the offending program OR just restarting the computer. It hasn't done that to me in a while, thank goodness! Cheers!

When do this hanging and closing problem usually occurs? Could give more details on how it happens, when it usually occurs? So we can assist you on how to solve this problem. Usually this problem occurs when the program was not properly installed..
