Hi there!
I feel that it is not necesary to respond to all text messages. Some are not required to be responded, they are just for enjoyment and reading. However, if I receive any message conveying some greetings/wishes to me, I do make it a point to respond. I love receiving SMSs and sending the same.

Hello. not to all, specially if it's just a quote. in fact, it's very seldom for me to have a prepaid load for my cellphone, since i'm busy, therefore i don't have much time for texting. But if it's important, then i'll load my sim card and make a reply, or i'll borrow a cellphone here with prepaid credits for me to be able to make a reply, happy mylotting

I have trust issues with my mobile network so I always reply so all my sms messages even if the only word in the message is "ok".
I also avoid giving sms messages and over the years my friends have understood the fact that I don't enjoy giving and receiving sms messages so I people would only send me sms messages when they have to.

Like you, I also give detailed responses because I don't want to hassle the person who's sending me a message. Whenever someone sends me a message that informs me about something, I still reply even if it's a mere... "Sure.." or "Got it.." or "Okay..". This confirms that I have received the person's message and this saves my butt if there are misunderstandings along the way because it is so easy for people to deny certain things through SMS.
