How to buy a domain?

Hello friends... Please help me how to buy and park a domain? I appreciate a step-by-step instruction of the buying process. I am not an IT-person so i am having a hard time understanding IT jargons... Though, I am so much interested in buying my own domains. Thanks a lot.

just go to some hosting company web sites, eg, godaddy, hostgator and you can find options to purchase domain only.
