Sad news at the Cat House

The roomie's almost 16 yr old cat has come to the end of the trail. He really hasn't eaten for 3 days and he stopped drinking yesterday.
Now please keep me and her and Nino in your thoughts as I take him for his last ride in the Hobo Memorial Cat Carrier to visit Ann, Joyce and David at the V-E-Ts.
You guys know I don't hold with declawing, but this is the one cat we had to declaw, and then take his top fangs because he was sending us and a few of the other cats to the doc/hospital ALL the FREAKING TIME! But since then he's been a really good cat. Actually, he was 95% good before, it was those 5% berserker times that were the problem.
I know this tough on her, with 'Nado it was pretty obvious that it was terminal and Tia, her first cat died in her hands. She doesn't want to be there with him tho I've told her that it would probably be the best thing, and he'd like it. Nino is her cat, oh, he likes me well enough, but he loves her.
It will be sad without the skinny boy around being a pest.

Please tell your roomie how sorry I am. It's very hard to say goodbye to a very good friend. A cat is a family member and a treasure. Give her a hug from me. Here is something I wrote when my own dear Baffy cat left for the Rainbow Bridge. Maybe it will help a tiny bit.
No one is lonely at the Rainbow Bridge
where kitties go when they depart this place;
for there’s a meadow down below the ridge
with flowers and wild butterflies to chase.
Now pain no longer clouds their brilliant eyes;
no illness dulls their shiny coats of fur;
but they are followed by our deepest sighs
and we are haunted by their rumbling purr.
Our memories of carefree days gone by
may dry our tears when we can think of those,
and maybe after some time, we can try
and find comfort – another furry nose.
Until that day we share our grief with friends:
whose hearts reach out, whose caring never ends.

[b]Gee whiz mcat...now I'm puddling up all over again. }~: I loved Nino, too. Good poem, though I suspect some cats at the Bridge would just as happily chase lizards as butterflies.

May he go peacefully and quietly. I really dread such moments. It does take a lot of courage to go through this. Our condolences.

Tiger really mourned when Sneaky Pete got ill and we had to have him put to sleep. It was very sudden, and he was a younger cat. Creamery missed him as well.

Awww....I'm so sorry hon, for both you and your roomie, and of course poor Nino. So sad. But he will be up there with my Fluffy and the kittens that I had to have put to sleep in April, along with everyone else's beloved furbabies. We love you Nino.

Aww--I'm sorry to hear about Nino and no doubt he'll be at Rainbow Bridge playing and frolicking with the mob of my kitties who are there. I've had a few "pest" kitties that were "difficult" but when they are gone we miss their "pestiness" right?

Oh gosh ElicBxn, my condolences to you and your room mate! At least the little guy lived a good long and happy life so that's what matters most. Bless his heart!! He'll no doubt run to the Rainbow Bridge to be with all the other kitties that have passed on and he'll be whole once again. Let your room mate know that he loved her just as much if not more than she loved him and he knew she loved him. Hugs to all of you!!

I'm sure Nino went up at the Bridge and is now getting re-aquainted with 'Nado.
I have a friend, GaiaFireLynx, who is already at the Bridge, we don't think she went over, she's too busy greeting cats that come there. http://www.mylot.com/GaiaFireLynx

I am so deeply sorry for you and your friend. It takes a great deal of courage to say goodbye. Poor baby, he sounds so sick!
I have tears in my eyes because I have two ‘babies’ and one is 13 now. He was six weeks old when we adopted him and I know that although he is healthy, he is getting older and I am so afraid his time may come too soon because I am so attached to him.
He was a very ‘bity and scratchy’ cat and still is at times. He’s pretty good with me. We used to spray him with water when he attacked and we haven’t had to do that for a long time.
My thoughts are with you during this sad time.
Good luck.

I have one that I have thought was on his last legs for almost four years, and he keeps bouncing back. He is beginning to be a grouch however. He annoys me, because if I am home he wants to be on me. On the other hand, he is now offended because I put him down on the floor and has left my vicinity and is sulking. I do not know what I will do when it is time for the old Tiger to die, as it has been about five years since I have had that issue. I admire this old guy, and am amazed at how solid he feels and how ratty he looks. They just work their way into our hearts.

Awwww, that's such a shame but he enjoyed a long life, my friend. My commiserations to both you and your friend, who must be missing him loads. Give her a big huggggg from me. I'll send my healing energies to all three of you and your other cats, so that you might find the strength to deal with this in the simplest way possible. I will keep you all in my thoughts, especially Nino, that he have a peaceful and pleasant journey across the rainbow bridge.
Brightest Blessings, my friend, in love and in light.

I am so sorry for your loss! Our Jakey-Jake left us last Labor Day at the ripe old age of 17. It is like losing a member of the family. I will keep a light on in my heart for all three of you! HUGS!

I want to give my condolences for your loss. I have 3 cats now and love them all very much. They are not very old Miss Kitty is mama to the other 2. Miss Kitty developed a bad biting habit after i started using thoses things you glue onto their claws to keep them from straching things. But since i stopped using them she doesnt bite as much. Im just thinking maybe your cat was biting because he didnt have the claws. But usually they try not to scratch any one and if they get a bit ruff all i gotta do is say ouch real loud and they stop.

Cats can be real rascals sometimes. Once miss kitty went after somebodys throat with claws and fangs exposed. She never really liked that dude ever. I dont know why. Kitty is a strange cat. Shes the boss and everything is by her terms. Bubba Kat is really sweet and loveable but every now and then he gets a little psyco, like his mom. But usually you just have to say ouch and they stop. But with Bubba you can just feel his huge claws he could easily cause some major damage if he wanted to. Neither his mom or sister wanna play with him because of this. Especially since he has over grown them both. Mama Kirty still plays with him some times simply cause she is psyco. Mama is still the dominate one. When Bubba was getting bigger than her he tried to take over beibg the dominate one but Miss Kitty fixed that wrong idea real quick.

Thanks Tamara, we hope not. He's actually been in kidney failure for over a year, and we've been keeping him going without doing too many extreames. But he pretty much stopped eating this week and even only drinking a tiny bit. He's also become very unsteady on his feet, and seemed to be getting worse by the day. We just couldn't watch this going on any longer.
