Do you consider management stupid?

Seriously. It seems like they always keep the stupid people and get rid of the ones who've been loyal and kept going through all the rough times. Is it like that where you work?
This one place has kept a guy who cannot (seriously) go one day without making some sort of mistake. Usually a large one that takes a day or more to fix. Other days it's smaller and only takes a few hours to fix. But he's still there after 2 years.
Another person, who's in a high place, can't even put numbers in a computer without erasing everything. Day after day.
CSR's who make costly mistakes every week, who have been there for years, and are still making those costly mistakes. The kind that take weeks of fixing. But they still have a job.
But this company has fired people. They fired a woman who had been working for years 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. She made the "mistake" of getting cancer. She missed more than FMLA would cover, so they fired her. After years of service and working her almost to death. They also fired a person in upper management (not the number-deficient one), but that one's co-manager. He made the mistake of being smarter than the other one (who is newer) and that one wanted rid of him cause he made her look bad. (He fixed all her screw ups every night)
Is your work stupid like this? Or former job? (I no longer work there myself.? Is it frustrating to you, to see this go on?

Seems to me the company is already in trouble acting like that. Everything & everybody needs to have compassion when somone is sick. THAT IS RIDICULOUS for them to trat people like that.

Yeah, I just don't like the idea it might take the company down too. It used to be a good company, and there are still a lot of good people working there. It's just management is so ridiculous.
I just heard someone was written up for missing so much. He'd had a stroke while at work, was taken to the hospital, and was there for 8 days. He came back to find out since he hadn't called in and had missed 8 days without calling, he wasn't allowed to miss any more work and was reprimanded. Now that's just plain stupid!! Seriously!
"I'm in a coma, but I'm sorry I didn't call. Can you ever forgive me?" Feh!! Stupidity just knows no bounds!

It is dog eat dog at most places the only people who are left are the bullies and the crawlers being qualified for get it ,you just have to be tough and heartless ,that poor woman it would not be allowed to happen in England being sacked if you are ill is well against the law.I no longer work at the place where all this took place just like you,it is hopeless trying to change it,they just don't care anymore it is all money, survival of the fittest not necessarily the best person.

Yep. If you don't know which tush to kiss, or literally clean up, you're in trouble if they're looking for a scapegoat!! Heaven forbid if all you do is the best job you can. All that matters is how you wiggle the behind and what dirt you know. It's a sad, sad world.

Yeah, I know they're not always good. But it's so frustrating seeing good people getting hurt while others can make the same mistakes, only much worse, and they get to stay.

Some useless persons are retained by the management because they are easy to be used as shields in case of an emergency. Sometimes some loyal employees gets the marching orders because of some non-compromising attitude in a given situation.

I can understand getting rid of someone for being bull headed. But they keep a lot of those kind of people. They demote them till later and reinstate them.
There isn't a lot someone with cancer can do about it though!
