Do hackers irritate you?

Wouldn't it be nice if they'd do some good in the world? Can you come up with useful ways for them to use their talents?
One of my thoughts was for them to attack websites that deserve their attentions. Like, say, nazi supremicist types. The ones that WANT their members to go out and hurt people that are different. If all our wonderful hackers would go after those sites and make their life 'interesting' why I'd be tempted to give them a medal.
What useful things can you come up with for hackers to use their 'powers' for?

Its amazing how people have such a knowledge on computers. I think people should be taking these skills and creating programs. The power that they have can really create some spectacular things

As they say, the best way to catch a thief is to send another thief after them.

T HAT WOULD BE A VERY GOOD CHOICE TO SEND HACKERS TO. ONE I'D LIKE TO SEE THEM GET ON THE BAND WAGON IS SITES THAT CHILDREN GO TO THAT THET SHOULDN'T. There are so mnay young people that get themselves in trouble by putting personal things on the web 7 THERE ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING JERKS OUT THERE READY TO JUMP ON TH INFORMATION THAT SHOULD NOT BE ON THERE TO START WITH. wHERE ARE THE PARENTS WHEN THEY ARE DOING THIS. I think all child molesters should be de-balled& the women should just be shot. SORRY, SORRY PEOPLE IN MY OPINION.

Amen!! Actually, even parents that are on the ball have a hard time keeping up with what the kids are putting up. They can do it at any library, through the phones, friend's houses. Kids are so darn tech-friendly, and we're the generation behind them. It's a bit hard keeping on top of them.
I'm all for the de-balling!
I'd like to see hackers go after stormfront.org (NOT a referral). Legally, nobody can touch them since we have freedom of speech. But they're allowed to rant about anybody different, stir up hate against whomever, it's just not right. They're just not right. I'm not Jewish, my actual heritage is German. What the Nazis did is a horror that shouldn't be talked about as if they had a right to do it. It's a disgusting view.

As mentioned by someone else there are good hackers and there are bad hackers! I would love to have the skills of a hacker but I wouldn't misuse these skills in anyway. I'm very into computers myself and have studied computer maintenance and installation and now I am studying networking. I guess in order to become a hacker I would have to learn all that computer code and several programming languages but that would take a long time. Anyway, I have a healthy respect for good hackers, they should be utilised in the best way possible in order to make progress. Andrew

Quite true. We need to find ways to tickle their fancy and send them on to doing something worthwhile.

Actually the government actually hires hackers for differnet reasons. some hackers hired by the government are used to test the security of the system and such. their are good hackers and bad hackers and they can do different things :D

That I know about. Just like they hired the actual guy that the movie "Catch me if You Can" was based on and he's a world-class security expert now.
But that's only if they catch them. It's the really hidden ones that need to be redirected to something useful.

Yeah, but those are the ones that have grown up a bit. I mean the ones that refuse to. They'd rather run around causing havok. I say, send them to websites that deserve a bit of havok. Pedophile sites, that stormfront.org (NOT a referral, it's a hate site), or other creeps that need to be gotten rid of.
