The Cavs needed needed Shaq as a center during their series with the Magic. Even a 37 year Shaq would give Dwight Howard a hard time in the post. I can't think of any 2 players at 2 diffrent positions that would clog up the post more than Lebron and Shaq. Lebron a big player whos over the 250+lb mark. After losing to the Magic Lebron was so frustrated he left the building immediately. Shaqs retiring after next season.

Lebron needs Shaq to win a title. He is the missing link in the Cavs rooster. Hope they will win the next season NBA. And they are the next Dynamic Duo in the NBA. I will wait for that!

who are they going to have to give up though? I don't think mo willams is going anywhere as hes proven reliable. this is still up in the air so i'm not so sure if shaq will going to the cavs but if lebron wants shaq bad enough it will happen and i'm sure after the frustration hes wanting shaq. i think they will find a way to bring shaq to the cavs.

I'm not convinced. Shaq will clog up the defensive end some but he will also clog up the offensive end. If Lebron really does want him there, he will only have himself to blame. I really don't think Shaq is taking anyone to the promised land at this point.

The Cavs is not interested to sign shaq but they're interested to get Yao Ming.. Checkout this link at the NBA website (not a referral link).. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/06/19/yao.cavaliers.china.ap/index.html

I'm not sure that is such a good idea either. He is a great player but the man is a little bit brittle. Imagine having him all season long and then have him go down with an injury at the beginning of the playoffs. Very risky move. If he would stay healthy right through to the championship and help the Cavs bring home the hardware it would look positively brilliant but I don't really believe in fairy tales.

i can understand lebrons frustration after having the best record during the regular season which was tied with the lakers with both of them winning 66 wins. Hopefully he can get some help to take the load of him. Shaq would be better than the centers they got now but still hes older but his size on the defensive end can make any player miss more shots.

It would be interesting to see - I must say. Though I wouldn't put such high hopes on Shaq being a star with the Cavs. He's too old to operate down low - he's not as quick anymore. We'll see though. What the Cavs need once they get Shaq is invest in a younger center player - that Shaq can take under his wings. That way, when Shaq retires, at least they have a center that was mentored by the Big Fella. Anyways- I don't think Cavs will make a run this new season. I think Magic will be a better team (if they keep Turkoglu). And of course - the Lakers will try and make a TWO-PEAT. GO LAKERS! =D

I don't know if shaq would make a good mentor. I think Patrick Ewing whos a mentor to Dwight Howard would do a better job as he had more skills with his fade away jump shot as well as being better from the free throw line but shaq will never have the soft touch from the free throw line.

I think you're trying too hard to find an upside for the Cavs on this one. How many good young centers has Shaq taken under his wing and mentored to date?

There are actual reports that the Cavs are in talks to acquire the Big Fella. I think this would be a really stupid move. The Cavs need Shaq like they need a hole in the head. For the Cavs he brings very little to the table. What are they going to have to cough up to get him? Whatever they have to give is probably not worth it. Seems Phoenix was in this position not that many moons ago. How did it work out for them? I think the Cavs need to make some moves this off season to make themselves better or risk losing Lebron in the long run but this is not the move they should make.

I can't believe they actually traded for the big fella. They are either going to make me look like a basketball prophet or a little bit stupid. I still think it is a dumb move for the Cavaliers. I think long term this increases the chances of Lebron defecting to the Knicks.

It is a stupid choice for Cavs in my opinion. If Cavs have a powerful center this year,I think they can beat LA.Next season Cavs really need a strong C.However,Shaq is so old.Of course,Shaq in his best period was one of the top3 Center players in the NBA history.Frankly speaking,Shaq has become old so that he does not has dominance on the court. He has not the capacity to help Lebron to get champion.
