I use both, I usualyl use little salt to preserve the food, when I cook it, I use a little bit of soya sauce into it to bring up the flavor. What about you? Or you don't use neither of them?

I use both also, but sometimes it depends on what I'm cooking. Sometimes I also use fish sauce to add some flavour, but most of the time I use stock cubes for flavour. I am in the middle east country and getting fish sauce and soy sauce are not easy, specially fish sauce because not a lot of people here like it. But most of the big supermarket here has it, I just have to go to one of this supermarket to be able to get it.

I use rock salt to cook my food.Acutally it depends on what i am cooking sometimes i do need soya sauce while i am cooking food, especially if it is a chinese dish. But rarely i use a soya sauce in my meal and use rock salt as daily i need salt for my food.Rock salt a good property in it that it helps control your blood sugar level which a normal salt might not even have it.

Along with other ingredients we use to taste our food, salt is one important in cooking. It gives taste to food and i usually use it in every food i cook along with some cubes to make the taste good. Sometimes it is also according to what we are cooking, that we can substitute other ingredients other than salt.

Hi mermaidivy, I sometimes use soya sauce especially in a Chinese stir fry but I never add salt when I am cooking or to the finished meal when I am eating it. My doctor tells me for my kidney's sake to keep salt intake to an absolute minimum. I know in some cases people need to add salt particularly if they have been sweating heavily but I avoid it completely with one exception. Fish and chips would not be the same without salt and vinegar!

hi mermaidivy I love to use soya sauce in cooking but adding salt, have you ever read the sodium content on a bottle of soya sauce, its really high in salt and for anyone who has high blood pressure theywould not dare add any other salt. I like to make chinese food with soya sauce without any added salt, but then I have high bP.

I use soy sauce for chinese cooking, it has salt content, i try to use salt in water for rice, potato and pasta only. Most chefs say you add salt as you're cooking, then taste to see if you have enough, but i'm trying to eat less salt.
