I grew up in San Francisco. In the summmer I would go and stay with my cuz'ns in El Paso, Texas when I was a kid. My Uncle Ray would take me to the Bullfights Just over the border in Juarez, Mexico. He always knew somebody that knew somebody. So we would go early and watch them pair up the six Bulls into three pairs. Two for each Matador. There is a lot of excitement behind the sences before the fight. They are very nice memories. I also remember you had to pay more money for seats in the shade.

Yes I have been to bullfights in Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia and Portugal. I Met the mexican bullfigher Manuel Capetillo in Barcelona and played blackjack next to El Cordoves in Quito, Ecuador. Also got kissed by El Viti in Quito....who was a colleague of a Spanish Rejorneador (fighting bulls on horsback) who was a very close friend of mine. I have also been to bullfights in Portugal where they don't kill the bulls. But that's a long story. For those who think bullfighting is a sport you are wrong. Bullfighting done correctly is an art....it pits the intelligence of man against the strength and prowess of an animal. However ever since El Cordoves arrived on the scene it HAS become diluted into a spectator sport. It is really a shame.

Thank you so much for your comment. Yes it is more a art than a sport. Have you ever seen the movie "Talk to Her" ?

Each to their own but bullfighting seems horrible to me. Killing an animal for entertainment - that can't be right, can it?

Sometimes a very brave Bull is spare. The cattle that go to the slaughter huose are never spared. The Bulls in a Bullfight are use after they are killed. Think of the Lions and Elephants and other animals that are Killed on safaris by Big Game hunters in Africa and that is viewed as a sport. I think that is wrong. You probably do too. Thank you for your response.

No I have never been. I would be sad to see an animal killed for sport.

No, and I don't want to. I know to the cultures that participate, they are not violent at all. I just don't want to see an animal killed.
