Has Anyone Else Noticed The Dip In Quality Programming On A&E?

It's really gone to crap!
There used to be shows like Biography (I think they made a whole new channel for that), America's Castles, Ancient Mysteries, Mysteries Of The Bible, and so many other awsome programs. Now it's mostly crime dramas, and sensationalism. I still see the odd episode of American Justice and Cold Case Files on there, but even those aren't consistent. Anyone else noticed the dip in quality?

I have, although I'll flip over to see what is on I generally think its gone too far towards useless issues just to get ratings. I would check the schedule to see what's on before I'd turn to it now.

Yes I have noticed . It happened a few years ago. A&E branched out with The Biography Channel and that's when A&E jumped the shark.Instead of Poirot and other good dramas, all these crime stories showed up.I don't watch A&e at all these days. It's sad . I miss Midsomers Mysteries and all the other great shows.

I have noticed alot of dips in quality on alot of channel networks anymore. I do not watch much television these days because of it. I hate it when they take the good shows off or show them less often too.

I noticed that theres less programing i like on A&E however I've noticed that on a lot of channels. I've been watching alot of shows online lately with the watch online features that different shows have rather than waiting til the night they are on or having to be disappointed i missed a show because i was busy.

no actually I never really noticed it, but I will watch out for it, we still see those shows you mentioned and we love them. I get a lot of my inspirations for writings from them as well.

I thought it was just me - my order of preferance used to be Halmark, Lifetime, then A&E, I can't tell you the last time I watched it though (year maybe more) because it seems there's never anything on. I now have a routine of early evening watching CMT - Nanny 911 and Extreme Home Makeover (I'm in love with Tye - as well as the wonderful things they do).

I've noticed a drop in quality in almost all channels. But yes, of course when we're used to some quality programs in one channel - and actually expect it like on A&E, and then we're faced with crappy programs we'll notice:)
Yes, it is true that they have a biography channel and all - just trying to cash in - which is the trend nowadays, if some program does well.... let's make a whole channel about it and get those suckers to pay extra to watch it LOL

about the only thing i watch on a&e anymore is gene simmons' show.
they used to have fairly interesting documentaries, but they seem to be trading that for sensationalist shows anymore.
discovery's picked up ancient mysteries tho.they usually show it early morning.

Yes I sure have!! Like you, I enjoyed those programs so much and a lot of the others but now it's mostly about crime and as much as I like crime solving, too much is too much and that's basically all they show now. It makes me wonder, "gee, how much crime is really out there?!" but then again, it's like you said, sensationalism at it's worst! Crime is going up and up all because of fame, to get their names in the history books. Oh how nice.... NOT!

You're too polite, lol! This is part of the reason my hubby and I said good-bye to our satellite provider, but it wasn't just A&E, the Turner Classic Movies weren't very classic, and the repeats were too much. I seriously think they're keeping the good stuff locked up in the archives for whatever reason, to rot I suppose. I'm glad someone else has noticed the difference.
