Here is a sonnet I wrote for a friend with an aging cat

Don’t run to watch the birdies any more;
don’t sit and watch them from the window sill;
don’t eat the food in my dish on the floor;
just want to lie in sunlight and be still.
Don’t run to her each time I hear her voice;
don’t sleep with her up on the big soft bed;
I want to, but I just don’t have a choice;
my bones are achy; I’ll lie here instead.
I think back on the years I spent with her,
remembering the playtimes and the fun;
remembering her hand touching my fur;
remembering the time when I was young.
I know that soon I need to go away,
I’ll stay a while so she can face that day.

Hi mscat19,
That is so beautiful and yet so sad, reminded of my smudge, she lived for 23 years and she just got old and just sat in one place till she had to go away, just brought my the memory of Smudge, my black ande white cat. Thanks.

Hi mscats19,
I have two cat now from a kitten age and they are bot 10 years old but behave like as if they are still young, Tom always chases me round till he catch me and roll about for a tickle and play hide and seek with me, Baby my female cat chases a small ball of paper around and even tries to catch her own tail, lol! they are bot so sweet, love them. Hugs.

My cat is sick at the moment and I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow. I am quite worried about him so I won't read any sad ones just yet! You obviously have a gift, good on you, you are talented! Wish me luck at the vets!
