Has a commercial ever interested you in something enough to buy it?

I liked the blanket with sleeves. I try to use a blanket when I'm sitting in our drafty old farm house and if I want to do anything, a regular blanket comes off my shoulders and I am cold. In my area, some of those TV things are on sale at Kinney drugs or Kmart. My husband bought me one and I like it, wish I had a couple more. Works great!
I think I'd like to try the slap chop and see if it works as well as that guy demonstrates. That commercial cracks me up. At least that one is funny. Sham Wow gets sickening and repetative.
So have you bought anything because of a commercial? Is there anything you're interested in because of a commercial? If you bought it, was it as good as advertized?

This is a really good discussion and I know that television is really important when it comes to everyday life because it is a good way to pass the time when you are extremely bored,or when you have nothing to do like on those extremely cold, and rainy days where you do not want to leave the house for anything, and I know that there are probably people who watch television a lot,and they can not live without it,and then I am sure there are people who either do not like television,or they do not watch it a lot because they might have a busy work schedule,or they might be busy doing things around the house, like cooking or cleaning,or taking care of the kids if they have any,and I am sure that some people will watch the commercials, while other people probably just tune them out,I have to say that the commercials are quite annoying and it seems like television is nothing but commercials anymore and I remember I used to watch the commercials because they seemed kind of interesting even though I never ordered anything off of one,but now I am sick of them,so most of the time I will either mute the television,or go and do something in another room while the commercials are on,because they are nothing but junk, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Ok, so the bottom line is that you don't like commercials. Yeah, a lot of times I mute them, too. Mostly the really, really loud ones I mute and some days that seems to be all of them. Thanks and take care.

Yeah you could definitely say I do not like commercials, and that is cool that you sometimes mute them too,and I know what you mean some of them are really loud, and those are the most annoying ones, and some days it seems to be all commercials, you are very welcome, and I hope you continue having fun muting the bad commercials lol, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

I know exactly what you mean I bought the hair away thing. I have not been about to get it to work for me. But when i saw the commercial with my mother and sister we all said now we could use that. so we bought it. It did nothing to the hair on our legs and arms. I felt like maybe i needed to read the directions again. we still have the product but i gave up... and think i will have to go back to shaving.

Is that the sandpaper-like stuff that you rub the hair away? If it is, can you spell rip off? When that was on sale for a dollar, I bought it. I can rub my skin off before I'll ever get any hair off. Irritating and doesn't really work. If there is anyone that needs fine sandpaper, give it to them, works better for that.

We nearly bought a Ronco rotisserie grill many years ago. It sounded like a good deal. When I was on the phone ordering it they asked me if I wanted this gadget and that gadget. The price was astronomical. I called back and told them to cancel it. A few months later I found a Big George rotisserie for $80 and we have had it for nearly 8 years now. Love it.

Often, if we think about something and we wait, a better one will come along. The TV may have gotten you interested in a rotisserie, but your good sense had you wait and something better for the right price came along. Good for you! Wisdom should win out.

Mostly food. For some reason the Reese's peanut butter cup commercials sometimes make me want one of those.
Separately, I love Vince (the guy who sells the Slap Chop and the ShamWow)! He amuses me and makes me think of the old "live" commercials that were on TV years and years and years ago (before I was born but I've seen rebroadcasts when TV Land used to play their "retromercials").

Yeah, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, absolutely!
Slap Chop is fun.
Some of the retromercials were during my time and some were before my time. I'm mid-retromercial. Thanks and take care.

I feel badly for people with kids because commercials really go after children. Kids want a lot of the things they see and many can't understand why they can't have everything they see. So saying no after a tempting commercial is hard. Esp. if you see something you and/or your husband want.

Definitely you don't want to buy anything expensive, but soap, and the rest of your list, esp. chocolates sounds like a good idea to me. Thanks and take care.

We bought those Tv trays the ones that can raise up to the right height that are white because we looked all through the stores for good sturdy trays that were not expensive. I also bought some hair removal stuff that works quite well. I usually do not pay attention to the infocommercials unless it is something that I intended to buy, but what was not available until now. I have not tried the Sham Wow, and I have not tried the thing for the calluses for your foot (sounds a bit too painful( and when I was at Zellers, there it was, but I did buy those plant globes and it saved them from dying.
So it depends on whether we need it or not.

I love the slap Chop commerical. If I needed to chop veggies I would definitely get it. the latest commerical that made me want to buy an item was the Craftsman elctric hammer. This marvel hammers in nail even when you use it upside down.I love power tools and this would be great to have.I have seen many a commerical that made me want to buy the item. Usually it is a great deal at a restaurant or a new cleaning item. I got my Swifter Wet Jet because of a commerical.

The great thing about Craftsman is you know they're good and guaranteed. I just can't get too excited about cleaning items, but food, restaurants, oh yeah. Thanks and take care.

I have never been sucked into buying an informercial item or anything really. The only thing that really sticks out that I saw on a commercial and looked for because of it, and it's kinda silly. Is the Scrubbing Bubbles toilet gel. I'm a super clean person and since i'm only 22 I have this thing about always keeping our apt clean because being young people expect you to live a crazy, cluttered messy life, which I hate.
My boyfriend has 3 brothers and lots of friends who were constantly coming over and I felt like instead of cleaning the toliet once a week I was doing every other day with all the boy traffic. So when I saw this thing I thought it was awesome that I could just stamp the gel and help keep it keep and smelling fresh (I refused to buy the bleach/blue toliet tabs, the smelled awful and just hated them!)
I have been in love with this thing since. LOL. So it sound silly but I saw the commercial and bought it! Now I just stamp my toliet with the gel once a week and it stays clean!

Glad you found something that works for you. Haven't checked it out, I have a septic tank, not a common sewer system, so I don't know what's in it. I would have to research long and hard before I put anything in my toilet besides the environmentally friendly, biodegradable stuff I have in now. But it certainly would be nice instead of having to work so hard to keep things clean. Thanks for responding and take care.

Yes, I mostly get attracted by some food products, the way the commercials describe how delicious they are and how wonderful they look like make me really want to buy it!

I like many commercials of Coca-Cola. There was a commercial where a girl was singing a heart-warming song while walking to people and then giving them cokes. It was very creative. Anyway, even if I hadn't seen that commercial I'd still buy a coke because I just love it.

That was a nice commercial that lifted up your day, wasn't it? They need more like that. I loved the toilet tissue dog and snuggles the teddy bear, they've had some sweet ones. Thanks and take care.

The "blanket" you guys are talking about is called a "Snuggie" My aunt got me one for Christmas last year. It's pretty nice in the winter. LOL not that I use it much but it even has pockets on it.
I typically do NOT buy things on infomercials or comercials... I'm cynical by nature and so I don't care how good it looks on TV it's crap till I see it work for awhile LOL.

No pockets in the one my husband bought me.
That's why I only buy and my husband only buys the stuff at the local stores. Then we can take it back and get our money back unless it's an electrical gadget, then we don't get those.
I went to a fair one time and saw a steam iron work for awhile, bought it, never did get it to work like that fair guy. Then one day, I was talking on the phone , let the steam run out and burned it up all to heck. The fair is a bad place to buy something unless they have local people demonstrating a local product because you never see them again. Didn't cost much, good thing, didn't get much out of it.
Thanks for responding and take care.

Commercial is great way of reaching lots of people when marketing products. Now, I am fed up with it. When ever I put on my TV it is every where, in every chanel and even in the radio. I just hate it, I hear the same thing every where, about every thing. My son once said, you should not beleive in everything you see, the things that are said about stuff is just a way of having you to by it. I do not go for it.
But, if there are things I already know about, and I know exist but usually are to expensive to have. And I hear in those commersials are reduce prices, then I would consider it. But not for trying it out. Never.
