Do you use the message feature on myLot to contact your friends?

I have sent and received a few messages on myLot and was starting to wonder if my "friends" were ignoring me or if they never got my messages. When I was checking an old message today, I noticed that all my messages had "1 response" just like in the discussions. I always thought I would receive a new message or somehow be notified when a reply arrived. I had been complaining that myLot never replied to my message but found out that they actually did reply yesterday. Anyone else think they are being ignored? Check your messages and see where the last response is from. I thin in the future I will not reply to a message but instead, start a new message to that member.

Yes, I thought that if one of my friends responded to a message I had sent them it would stop as a number on top of the page in the same way that if someone requests to be your friend it shows. I wonder whether it will do so after today, since they have obviously spent a lot of time doing the site up, which I feel has generally been an improvement. If it does not show up, then I am also just going to write a new message to people instead of responding, because I would hate for anyone to think I have not read or responded to their message

It happens all the time. I have replied to the other copy of the same message on page one. At least it isn't as obvious when it appears on two pages lol. Hope you get rewarded for the +'s on both pages :)

Just when I was replying to your comment I received a message and while I was replying to it, I noticed that I had a new message. That turned out to be a reply to the same message so apparently that has been fixed. Another big + for myLot staff!

I only use the message feature to contact people on here when I have something to say that can't be posted in disucssions. I don't use it as a communication tool for people I know.

I have only used the message feature once, and that was to reply to a message that you sent, so I have not noticed the irregular manner in which it operates. The message feature is supposed to be there for the convenience of members, so you would expect a highlighted notification in your profile area when a message or reply has not been read. As it is you would need to check it regularly, which would be annoying if no messages were present.

Yes, your's was one that I wasn't sure ever went though but I saw today that you had replied to it 5 days ago! I always thought I would get a new message in my inbox but not just a response. You can't see what messages you have already read or which ones are new. You can only see who last replied/wrote in it and how long ago that was.

I have used the message feature with some of my friends. Sometimes I get responses back and sometimes I do not so I do not use it frequently. I have made a couple friends that I chat on instant messengers with.

It is a lot easier to use after they started notifying us of new replies to our messages.

Yes, I love the changes that I noticed today. I haven't noticed any changes in the message feature as I have only used it to send one message today and that didn't need a response. I am hoping some features will be fixed as I lost new replies to a message that had been going back and forth from me and another member when it hit page #2. I dont use the message feature much so if I am waiting for a reply, I just check it once in a while. It would be nice if I would get notified of new responses but so far I have only seen when I receive a new one. If I think my response is urgent, I start a new message.

I will have to check mine. I have only used it once or twice so I am not too familiar with it. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think messages appeared pretty quickly yesterday (when I finally found out how to use the feature) but you have to monitor it if your'e waiting for a reply as you don't get any notifications.

I don't use the messages for chatting but sometimes you want to either give or receive more details from a discussion but not to post it where everyone can see it, so then it comes in very handy.

Maybe it's because so many users on here don't know how the message feature works.

I have only used it once to send a message to myLot about the donating to charity discussion from you. That was two days ago and they still haven't replied to me. You said they replied to you though so hopefully they will do something about it.

Yes, I have written to them again about that but guess they are too busy with all the new members to answer messages. They might well be doing something about it even though they haven't replied. They talked about it might take a couple of weeks so I'll wait until the end of the month before I write to them again. They won't be able to do the charity thing but if they allow Icelaners on here to use their Paypal accounts and not only Ikobo, it's at least something.

Simple answer. Not everyone needs this feature and I would never use it for "chatting" or anything like that but it's good to know it's there and that you have the option of messaging someone if you need to contact them with something that is not for public view.

It's good to have that feature though when you want to add more details or ask something that maybe doesn't belong before the public eye.
