is it worth buying the collectors addition or the sims 3? I only have the first sims game, but I also bought the sims 3 on my ipod a few weeks ago and just that version is better then the original, so I am really interested in trying to full computer version of the sims 3, but I noticed they also have a collectors addition, so is it worth spending the extra money for the collectors addition?

Well there are several aspects to look at
1) Financial
With the collectors edition, you do receive $10 for the Sims 3 Store, which is very nice because some of the clothes they have are pretty good. While you can customize colors in game, nothing beats a new style. Also you do get the USB stick, which is 2GB. If you went to a store like Best Buy, that would cost you about $15. So there is the cost for the collectors edition. Not to mention the USB stick is in the shape of the plumbob and is possibly the coolest thing ever.
2) Brand Support
I personally chose the collectors edition, not only for the financial reasons, but I wanted to use my purchase to send EA a message that I love the Sims series and I want them to continue to make new versions. If we didn't spend a lot of money on the series they probably would have not bothered to make The Sims 3, which would be a crying shame.
3) Aesthetics
I'm not going to lie, the box is very pretty, and I did need a place to store the game case and USB when not in use, so I actually kept the box and are using it as storage/decoration.
For me, it was worth the extra money. While I found the prima mini-guide to be decent, I ended up purchasing the whole guide. A lot depends on if you would have a use for the USB (like, maybe to back up your TS2 sims before the install?) and if you have any desire to purchase things on the online store.
If you do decide to get the collectors, I would call ahead and check that they have it, just to be sure. They should by now, but better safe then driving for no reason. Good luck with your choice!

There is no additional content other than an in-game sports car, and some people have had trouble claiming it from the website.
You get a plumbob USB stick that has a few wallpapers and icons on it. And you also get a mini prima-guide (but I've heard some bad comments about that).
Personally I don't think that is worth an extra $25, but at the end of the day the choice is yours.

Well, in a lot of ways I guess it depends on what works for you. Because the regular Sims 3 that I bought does have the Free $10 with it, so for me the savings of like $25 did not make it worth getting the Collectors version. And since the price of this game will decrease the longer the game is out, I guess it is up to each individual for sure.
