How does one become a thinker?

You know, like in the early days of Renaissance there used to be many thinkers, free thinkers who are now getting credit for a lot of things.
How does one become a thinker who is looked upon or is talked about today?
I know it's a silly question, but anyways.

We're all born thinkers. Whether we remain on that path combines curiosity and exploration of ideas.
