I know laptops are versatile. You can take it along with you. But I still prefer to use my desktop over my laptop when I am in my home.I really don't know the exact reasons. It might be because I like to listen to the music in full volume and also I think the bigger screen gives a much better viewing pleasure. But my friends like their laptops more.I don't know what makes them think so.What do you prefer and why??

Hi, ya laptops are good in the sense that they are very convenient to use and we can carry them along with us and use it whereever we want to. While laptops contain and compacted all the components in a smaller size of notebook, it actually is more fragile and vulnerable to damage, compared to desktops. Besides, since laptops are easy to carry arond that it will be easier for thieves to steal it. These are the drawbacks of laptops. For desktops, although it is bulky and not easily movable it actually can have beeter processing performance and also better in many other features compared to laptops. For office use it is sufficient to have desktops, while if your work requires you to move around or do not have a fixed workplace then it is better to use laptops. As for me myself, i will prefer to use laptop. This is because i like the portability of it and it has all the features of a computer that is enough for me to carry out my work and also daily activities.

owning whether a desktop or laptop has its own purpose. i mean, for laptops its for people who are usually on the road and for desktop are for those who usually stay in one place. for homebodies i would say if you are really have enough to have both then it would be better. hahahah.

I prefer a desktop over a laptop though desktop is bulky.... I love working on a desktop..It is easy to fix..In my place,we don't have a good technician who could fix a laptop properly.I have to send it to a bigger city and I think it is a great problem.. I agree with you..Desktops have larger screens, you can enjoy watching movies on it.

I am using laptop so you know the answer. For me laptop is more convenient to used that desktop although its much expensive than desktop. And if your using laptop you dont have to used big space to put it unlike desktop. You can carry laptop anywhere unlike desktop that you can't bring it anywhere if you want. Overall, i just love laptop because of the convenience of using it.

I too quite prefer desktops to laptops. No doubt, laptops offer portability, however, I find the desktop screen much more comfortable. The screen is large, you can sit upright without the need to adjust much. Also, there's the audio effect. Besides, I find the keyboard and mouse of general laptops difficult to use because of their small sizes. Desktops in comaprison with laptops can be easily repaired, without much monetory involvements. Also setting up a laptop is a difficulty since you need to plug the power at the different places; and for desktop, there's no need beyond the pushing of a few buttons!

In this fast-changing technological world, sometimes you are faced with some difficult choices. For instance, your current computer has matured to the ripe old age of six months and has been deemed obsolete. Now it's time to purchase a new computer and the question is, "Should I buy a laptop or a desktop?" But just because laptops are the new craze, it does not mean that you should run right out and get one. There are benefits and drawbacks that must be weighed. Of course, the main benefit of a laptop is the portability. This can be a huge benefit, allowing you to take your computer to and from work, on planes, on camping trips, and practically anywhere else. Along with this benefit comes a large drawback. It is just as easy for someone else to walk off with it as it is for you. Laptops are stolen at an alarming rate, because they are just so easy to steal. And when that computer is stolen, not only do you lose the value of the computer, but also all of your valuable data. Another major drawback of a laptop is that their parts are "proprietary" which means that if your laptop breaks, only the company that made it will be able to fix it, and after the warranty expires they will be very happy to charge you an exorbitant price for that service. While with a desktop computers, you are able to take advantage of your local computer store which will often fix it at a much more reasonable rate. A third drawback to the laptop craze is that in general, laptops are far more expensive than desktop systems. For the price of an average laptop, you could purchase a much more powerful desktop. Of course, what you are paying for is the portability of a smaller design, but is that worth it? While it can be very fun to take your computer with you on a camping trip, how often do you need to type something up while fishing? Now, the laptop is a very important part of the computer market, and I am not trying to dissuade people from buying them if they have need for them, but I have just seen far too many people dissatisfied with their laptops and wishing that they had purchased a desktop. One main example of this group of people is college students. Often first year students purchase laptops because they plan on taking their computers to class with them and being able to do their homework anywhere on campus. The stark reality of it is that laptops get stolen far too often at college, even right out of the dorm rooms, because they’re just so portable. To add to this, I do not know a single student who uses their laptop in classes. While a noble ambition, no one actually carries through with this plan. Laptops should be viewed as a purchase that should only be made when necessary. You would not purchase a car with 4-wheel drive (no matter how fun it looked) unless you actually had use of that feature, because otherwise it wouldn’t justify the added cost. The same is true of laptops.
