This happened yesterday, that is so scarey, a lot of people where on the plane, and they called for a Doctor, but the Doctor couldn't revieve him. Another Pilot took, over, I guess they didn't want to let the People on the plane know what was going on. Because I know they would of panic. He Flew Planes for 30 years or more. This could happen on a Plane or a Car or anywhere I just thought that was kind of scarey.

And that is why it is alway good to have a co-pilot. And this case an extra pilot to boot. Reminds me of the movie "Hook" Robin Williams character was afraid to fly and his friends were trying to be supportive. They said "It not your time to go." He quickly thought about that and as the elevator door was shutting he poses the question "What if it's the pilots time to go?" I do pray that the family will be comforted. Pastor G

It is good to see you too. I had shoulder surgery and it made it really difficult to type so I did my best to not type for the past 12 weeks. The website is doing very well. We continue to pay people on a daily basis and it is moving up in ranking over the web. Now under 69,000

It was scarey!. However, with a co-pilot able to take over, there really isn't a need to scare the passengers on the plane. It's the co-pilot's responsibility to assume control if anything happened like that. If the passengers HAD been told...imagine the frivolous 'stress' lawsuits? What upsets me more is when you read about a pilotwho'd been drinking prior to flying. What if the pilot AND co-pilot are drunk?

That was really freaky. Thankfully they had copilots that could take over in such an emergency. Sad that they couldn't stabilize him until they could land at a nearby airstrip and get him proper medical help. We never know when God is going to call us home.

Yes, it's a dodgy situation but one that didn't end up to be catestrophic. I really do feel that pilots should be stood down from piloting jobs when they reach say, their mid fifties, as this guy was 61 and the risk increased by him flying a plane. Perhaps they should retire them to a training job or something, training young, new pilots and putting them through simulator training when they reach fifty five? Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I agree Darkwing! That is a bit old for flying a plane.

Well, he wasn't really old my friend, but in this country, men retire at 65. When it comes to flying a plane, I believe they have to have regular medical tests, regarding the altitude and everything, and I feel that it's a little risky for the passengers to have a pilot that age flying them. I don't think they should have to retire from the industry altogether, but I think at fifty, or fifty-five, they should perhaps be taken off of flights... especially long-haul ones, and be encouraged to give of their experiences and knowledge to training younger pilots. That way, they wouldn't feel as though they were on the scrap heap and the airlines would have the benefit of good, fresh, young pilots who had received thorough training. Thank you for BR my friend. That is most welcome. xx

marcia, that was just strange and a very scary. I feel very sorry for the deceased pilot's wife; she seemed devastated. The crew really handled the situation well, kudos to them. Makes you think before flying!

yes, it was Sad, but Zi though he was kind of old to be a Pilot, because at that age that's when Men start to have problems like a Heart Attack. they say it doesn't matter about the age but, it does, if you really look at it! Join me on Facebook!

I heard about that on the news what a shock for all his friends and family. He was only 61 years old not even retired yet.It just goes to show you should make the most of your life while you can.It is scarey in the sense you never know when your numbers up in planes they always have a co pilot so everyone will land safely.

yes, the plane landed safely, I don't think a lot of people on the plane knew what was going on.

What a saving grace that was it must have been hard enough to the other staff on the plane with him passing away ,let alone everyone panicking as well.

That is scary, that is probably one of the main reasons there are co-pilots on big airplanes. You never know when something bad can happen, its better to be safe then sorry. I feel so sorry for that mans family, I know how hard it is to lose someone you love.

I heard about this on the news. That is amazing that someone else was available to take over and land the plane safely though. It scares me to think how this could happen if there was only one pilot.

Yes it is kind of scary. At least the passengers were OK. It could happen anywhere; in fact I have heard of incidents where people had heart attacks when they were driving. I have a friend whose husband had a heart attack when he was driving, and he crashed into another car. But no one was hurt seriously and it wasn't a real bad heart attack so he survived.

I think it is more scary if this happens in a car. At least the phane can fly in autopilot mode for most of the time, and pilot is needed only for landing and other emergency. And there is one co-pilot in the plane. Can't imagine the driver having heart attack in a car. There is no such thing as autopilot mode for a car. No way to put the car on autopilot while another person takes over the wheel.

i think the airline must be sued by the travelers for their negligence of the important aspect of such a risky adventure, why would the airline not know the health history of their pilots and other staffs of the airline, and why would the pilot himself not disclose his health status to his employers, this situation could have degenerated into something more serious
