nowadays more and more parents are eager to send their children to study abroad before they finish high school by whatever means and at whatever cost.
it is quite understandable for parents to send their children to study overseas because the place high expection on their children. they are encourged by the success stories of those who have competed their overseas study.with the development of economy, companies and institutions at home are giving more and more emphasis on overseas experiences, too. conseqently, pursuing overseas study became a kind of short cut in gaining a better future. moreover, there is still one underlying reason for this rush economic reason. the rapid economic progress in the past few years has enabled more and more parents to afford the huge cost for their children's overseas study.
as for me, overseas study is surely a helpful way to get both advanced technology and necessary experiences. but overseas study at an early age is neither necessary nor benefical. the students may be too young to either tend for themselves or think for themselves. i do think that overseas study can contribute to one's self improvement, but it's better to be pursued after one has finished his college study at home, when he is more capable of learning and living on his own.

I feel children must be given breathing room to evolve on their own. In today's world where expectation is high and almost all of us tend to think that our children are genius puts a lot of pressure on our children. I sincerely feel that pressurizing hampers more that driving the cause. So a child need to be given time to choose his or her's own path. Parents should act as advisers rather than passing orders. As parents we should guide our child make then understand what is right and what's wrong, discuss different career options with them .... evaluate the pros and cons of each option. But the final decision should be left on the child and he should be free to pursue his own course. In that way the child will be happy and so will be the parents in the long run. For overseas study it is simple if the career path chosen by our children and not us requires them to go and study overseas then it should just be fine.

Students who study abroad gain experience that is unforgettable and invaluable and can not be paralleled at home. Cultural immersion is an essential aspect of studying abroad and provides students with a basic understanding of business practices associated with different cultural norms and values.

If I can just bring back the time I will asked my mother to send me abroad to study while I'm still young. It will be a great help for your career if you have a degree from other countries.
for those who are looking for a job you may visit http://www.buhayqatar.com/job-vacancies and you will see that an overseas diploma is an additional edge for you.

Hello Northway...
I agree with you in your opinion that a child
must not be sent abroad because the kid still
need the proper care and guidance of the parents.
They should be gaining more nurture inside the family
not outside the country in the midst of stranger.

hi northway......
yes i do agree with you that one should go or overseas study after he/she has completed their college in their home country.....because by the time they complete their studies in their home country they are grown up and can take care of themselves.....but we should always keep in mind that it is not only overseas study which will give you an advantage over the others it is individual performance......i have seen many people who have degrees from big colleges abroad but they don't have a good job......so it is the knowledge of the individual which will give them a better job and not a degree......i am going for oversea study next year to united kingdom.....but i first did my graduation here and now i will go for my masters.....

the very first thing one has to do is, ask onseself, is my child has enough gots to be apart from you for quite a long time or in vise versa? second, is your child ready in all aspect...emotionally, physically, mentally and adjust to every possible circumstances. these are some of the things one should consider.
for me...filter everything out.if i am or my child is emotionally, physically, mentally ready...I'm sure will.opportunities seldom comes, grab it when it come.who knows, when my child returns-he might be the next mayor, governor or president-who knows?right?
anyway, i may sound bluffing since this only serve for a discussion purposes. things might be different when it comes.but at least, i offer my side, so when it comes it might turn out to be this way, and i guess im ready.

I think that anyone who's a minor (that's 18 here) should not study abroad. You've already pointed out some of the reason's why that is. May I also add that at that stage in their life - everything that they need to learn is right at home.
Now - studying abroad for college is a totally different matter. IF any of my kids would want to study abroad, I'm all for that. I think that studying abroad (for college) is one way to educate them outside the classroom.
