Hi, when putting candles on a cake we typically the same amount of candles as the person's age. Though we do put one extra candle on..."To Grow On". :) However if the person doesn't want candles that's another story! :)

I did not have a cake during my last birthday. But if ever I will planning to get one, I will just buy the numeric candle so that my cake won't be surrounded by many candles. I don't hide my age. I am proud of it.

Actually, I haven't had a birthday cake in so long that I cannot remember. If I did have one, I wouldn't care. People could put all 38 candles on it. I would just be so thrilled to have a cake. My favorite kind of cake is the ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. I think I am going to go there Monday and see if they have any cakes on clearance leftover from Father's Day. A friend of mine just turned 49. We put all 49 candles on the cake. Thought we were going to have to get a fire extinguisher there for a minute. LOL

I like to only put one candle because they will burn quick, I odn't want the wax melts on the cake, I think one candle can represent everything, sing birthday song, make a wishthen blow the candle :-) I used to like to put numbers of candle on it according to how old we are turning to be hehe.

The cake fashion now in my country is to put candles shaped like numbers. If you are celebrating your golden year, then you put 50 on the cake. But ain't it all the more fun if we light up 50 tiny candles? You blow the cake longer and the photographers get to shoot different angles. Later on you can choose what shots to put in your album.

I can't say. I haven't had a birthday cake to put candles on in forever. We usually just go to dinner. Guess I should ask for cake. Nope, that's bad for the diet.

I don't put candles on my birthday cake...it's the cake giver who does that but every year I am given just ONE candle on my cake. I guess it's cause it's a lot easier for me to blow it off. lol

I think it is just for kids as they really enjoy seeing how many candles there are on the cake. For the grown-ups, 1 candle is usually the good idea because we tend not to reveal our true age to others that easily and also having tens of candles on the cake should be quite a problem.
