In Hollywood, etc., eccentric and unusual names are common, as when Gwyneth Paltro named her daughter "Apple." Makes me go, huh?? Or take Rumor and Scout Willis. In my own personal experience, I once worked with a woman who had named her son "Dark." I thought it strange, but it is an individual choice, and kids are stuck with what their parents name them until they are old enough and have enough money to change that name if they wish.
What is the most unusual name you know that someone has named their child?

Oh my lol. I suppose the way they're pronounced adds some sophitiscation, but um, the way they're spelled make them sound like a dessert. Really odd, but the most unique I've heard so far. :D

My friend has a son, a lovely boy, always smiling when he sees someone touching and greeting him. I was shocked when my friend told me what he had named his son ! "Puppy" ! I felt that was too too absurd ! He said he named his son that name because he loved him so so much !!!

Unless it is merely a nickname, that is the strangest example of "puppy love" I have ever heard! Thank you for sharing it.

I used to work in child support enforcement and I had one client who's children were named Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. I also had a client and her daughter's name was Victoria Secret. It's funny how sometimes the names that are given somehow match the personalities of the person, but as far as the names of my children they're rather normal, I think. My daughter is Sheldon Brianna and my son is Joshua Shane. But, I have to say I have seen some rather strange names!!

The names of the seasons are unique. I wonder what they'd have called a 5th child? Your children's names are very nice.

Until I have joined in a US based company I do not know English names very much, It's been more than 3 years now I am working for them. Still I find some names very weird. I don't remember from which country he belongs to but the name will be spelled as "Kossy".

Hello PeacefulWmn9, I'm don't know any baby's name but i cam across funny adult's name. I was working with a Financial Cooperative which deals with nealy 5000 people. I've been there about a year and this guy walked in requested he would like to withdraw all his investment and close his account. So, i requested for his ID to check his account number and amount of investment he made. I almost burst out when I read his name 'China Tire'!!!
3 days later, another chap walked in to patial-withdraw and his ID read 'Underwear'! I can still laugh out loud when I think about it! Poor guys, parent's mistake and they stick with that Life-Long!! I agree with you.

Well I find baby names nowadays really weird. Here in the Philippines, baby names are usually combined to their parents names which mostly turns out to be funny when heard and kind of absurd. I prefer elegant girl names like princes and princesses names like Margarette, Harold, Richard, Diana.. simple ones but very classy.. =D usually parents want their baby's names to be unique and I pity that the babies will suffer it in the end.
The most weird name I heard was named after a fast food chain here in the Philippines. His name was "Jollibee" hahaha! Really funny. Another was named after a brand name of kitchenware "La Germania" because according to their parents it sounds foreign and unique.. Hahah..

I think Apple and Scout are really cute names...on pets, maybe. But Rumor and Dark are kind of wierd. I don't personally know anyone who's named their kid some out of the ordinary, though.

I have known many very odd names. I named my own children a little differently too. I wanted them to have names all their own but not so odd they would be teased. I named one girl Kimber and the other Jessa. They are not real weird but they are different. I have a friend who has kind of odd names for her children. Her first son is Aries and her other is Ever. Her daughter is named Anna-Marie Lyric. I think that's kind of pretty.

Those are unique, and yes, very pretty. Not off the wall and strange, but musical in sound.

i think i have heard about so many strange names before, i have heard about people naming their children Jesus, some named their children Judas while some named their children satan, i always try to find out the motive behind such names but people say there is nothing in a name actually, it all depends on how deep people take the belief that names may change the characters of a person

It is the person, not the name ultimately, but studies do show that a "weird" name can have negative effects on the person stuck with it, simply because of what it brings into the mind of others, and especially during childhood.
Thank you for responding.

LOL, wow, that one is a puzzle! I have no clue what some parents must be thinking to slap such labels on their innocent children! Thank you for commenting.
