Yesterday while driving to work I saw a field full Holstien cows. What made look twice was all had their tails cut off! Some tails were cut of half way some were so short it looked like they were docked! I never seen this before and don't know why a farm would do this! I looks cruel to me!

I have never seen a cow with a docked tail! I had to look it up on the internet, and it seems one of the reasons some farmers do this is because it is suppose to make the cows easier to milk. It seems pretty pointless to me. Some countries have banned tail docking in cows, so maybe that is why I haven't seen it. It is pretty sad really.

That makes no sense! I just wonder how many farmers have done this? I grew up on a farm and we never did anything like that! Maybe it isn;t that common in the U.S. If it is I'm surpised I haven't seen it more! I agree it is sad! Thanks for the response!
