Do you stand and take action for what you believe in or do you sit down and wait

I would like to get an idea of what the average person does. When you have a cause that will affect your life or the life of a loved one, do you sit and wait the outcome will be or do you stand up and take action? What kind of action do you take? There are many issues right now that may completely change America, which will affect each of us in some way.

I think the stance I take depend on a number of factors. Personally, I am a person who believes in fairness and equity; "Do unto others as you would want others do unto you." On this basis, most time and whenever the occasion demands it I stand up for the cause of justice.
On the other hand, one may not be able to stand against every injustice without jeopardising one's life. How strong can a man be if he is an employee to stand up against the action of his employer? How feasible is it for a person to stand up against a criminal who is bent on commiting crime at any cost? It's often said that evil thrives when the good people do not stand up agaist the evil. It's easier said than done. As I conclude this submission, I urge everyone to be sincere and stand up for the cause of truth, fairness and equity.

What a great question!
I take action on issues of rural health care generally and locally on open govenment. I write my Congressman (thanks, email) regularly so that he and his staff write back with detailed responses instead of 'cookie cutter' "thanks for your concern" letters.
At election time, I work to make certain the candidates answer questions on this topic. It is hard to get the topic on the agenda, but great once it arrives.
Working with local giovernment takes longer, but is more reqarding, especially if you have a specific goal in mind. Getting a local budget on the internet took a few meetings and some pressure, but it worked. Like they say about spreading sunshine... it is the best disinfectant for dirt.
Thanks...

Hi 4blessings! Me too!
I DEFINEately stand up for what I believe. If you don't stand for what you believe in, you'll fall for anything. Not me. I'm a doer. Too many people are being quiet about what they believe. They think it won't matter and it's a private thing. Not me. I'm here for only a short time. Going to do as much as I can to spread truth and stand for what is right.
Great discussion!
