I have wanted for years to complete a first aid training course but time and money were always an issue. Recently the company I work for offered to pay for the course for anyone within the company willing to sign up. That took care of the money end of it. They managed to schedule it all after work during the week which although it was a challenge that took care of the time part of it. Yesterday I completed the course passed my test and got my official certification. As a father of five and somehow I always end up being a group leader for something I was keenly aware of the need. It would be great if everyone could have this kind of training. It is great to be able to be asset in the event of an emergency. Mylotters what are your thoughts?

how much did you pay for it. i have too undergone such training as part of my course study that i took up 3 months ago. it is not that hard but quite confusing at first as to how to perform it correctly. but it is really very informative and helpful.

I don't know how much the course actually cost because my employer paid it. If I went and took it on my own I imagine it would have cost me more than that anyway. I believe they got a group rate. The course was very helpful and the instructor very knowledgeable.

I have always wanted to get such a certification or at the minimum learn how to do CPR. It has not occurred yet, but I do want to do this. I agree that everyone should know something on these lines like CPR and other items that are taught as a part of the first aid certification. I ope to get the chance to do this one day.

You are absolutely right! Good for you and congrats.
I too have my first aid certificate. It is a must but hope that I never have to use it. I have already a couple times though.
Accidents do happen.
It is a good idea to keep refreshed and updated.
I understand that there is first aid for infants as well as animals. I would like to get those two certificates as well. At least the dog one as I don't have children.
It would be great if more employers put their employees through such training as they have for you.
In fact I think Basic level One First Aid should be trained on a volunteer basis and be of no charge.
This could save moe lives if need be.
I think that there are more people without basic first aid knowledge then there is that have a certificate.
Now that I am certified, if I come upon an accident scene, I am required, by law to assist and not leave until paramedics get there.
It is awesome knowledge for at least one person within the family to have.
It is also very handy to have on the job too!

First aid is certainly important. I have been conducting first aid and emergency care programs for years and have always noted that the participants really appreciated the knowledge and learning. May it be a at work or at home, accidents may happen and surely by having knowledge on how to provide care is certainly an advantage. I am glad that you have completed your first aid course... congrats to being a first aid provider!
