Do you mute your cellphone often? Is it because it makes a loud noise

I do mute my phone every time i get out and ride on public transportation. I don't want my phone making loud sound or music every time some text me. specially if someone text me it will be continuous texting back and forth and so this will create music to keep to keep sounding off . and i do feel like i am trying to announce to the world i have a new message. i don't want to feel that way and so i just mute so i don't feel shy to read my text and text on public places.
Seems to me it is not any more cool to use the loudest ringtone or the most beautiful ringtone. cause most people have cellphone and having a cellphone sound off is no big thing now. before i envy people who ahve good ringtong and who have cellphone. of course the price is very much affordable i don't feel proud any more having a phone that keeps having a ringtone alert.
what about you ? do you turn on your ringtone or message alert tone when you are rexting a lot in public place.

guess school here in the philippines are quite strict about cellphone. do they allow cellphones in high school now. do they let them use while in class. like texting.

I keep my phone muted most of the time, because I think that the noise is unnecessary and rude. I think that when my cell phone contract expires, I will just get rid of the stupid thing and get a landline phone for my home. I think we've gotten a little too obsessed with staying in touch all the time, to the point where we feel like we have to answer the phone even if we're out somewhere trying to relax (or get things done, like grocery shopping!).
I was sitting on a jury for a court trial for the past week or so, and there was one woman on the jury who didn't turn her phone off and it went off in court. So embarrassing.

Hey,
Well I don't really think it is rude as many people say, it is just a nuisance for everyone. Because when the phone rings, it is more embarrassing because then everyone might listen to your conversation, and you definitely don't want that. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I haven't text much nor received many calls so I seldom mute my phone... In fact it is pretty much like muted as the ringtone volume is rather small. But then, there are people who have such loud ringtone that likes to shares with everyone in the bus. How? Well, when a call arrives at their cell, they just don't pick up. Yes, they will check on the cell a LONG time before they pick it up. I really wonder whether they intended to let it ring for so long to show off how "wonderful" their ringtones are.

hi hotsummer...
i generally put my mobile on silent mode when i am some place like hospital, school or temple........these places are very important as people need silence in these places.....and ins very annoying for them if a phone rings in between their prayer or there sleep........and when i am out on the road i never put my phone on silent......as there is a lot of noise and as i wear lose fitting pants so i do not get the vibration........and i try to keep a decent ring tone which is not very loud and is very sweet......

yeah i think in loud places it is just fine to have a message tone cause it will not be that loud in public. but in closed places like buildings i think that it is good we just use the mute option. but if i will just rarely get messages it is okay to have sound or alert tone on even in closed places but i am expecting to receive lots of messages at a time it is really good to mute or else people might think i am trying to get noticed by those tones that keep on beeping every minute or so.

Hi, i seldom mute my cellphone. I usually mute in when i am having tuition or having school. If i am outside or at home i wont mute my cellphone. I didnt put it at very high ringtones so it wont disturb me. If i put it mute i wont know my phone is ringing. Happy Mylotting!!!

I usually will not mute my phone unless it is at the places where I seriously need to mute it.If I am in my church meetings and lectures I will definitely mute it as it will disturb others when it rings out loud. Somehow when I am working I will let it unmute sometimes incase of emergency but most of the time it is muted as well. In buses and public places I usually let it be unmuted because it is so noisy and if I were to mute it, I might not know whether there is an incoming call or not and sometimes when emergency happens it will turn out bad to mute my phone in public. Well my message alert tone is always off and set on vibrate,I don't know why but I think that message alert tones are very annoying...

I take the train very often and so i usually have my phone on 'vibrate'. But i do get irrated by the loud ringtones i hear almost everday in public places. Another thing which annoys me are the people who speak extremely loud on their mobile phones as if they were the only one on the train. I once told a teenager off for talking EXTREMELY loud on their phone and i got an apology.

When I am in the office, I usually lower the volume of my cellphone. When I am in public, I am not muting my cellphone. I just the use the regular ringtone and sound and set it on vibrating mode. If I cannot hear the ring, then I could feel it vibrating and I will know that someone is calling.

I have two phones and I put one into silent mode while the other the opposite. I want to make sure I get to hear one of my phones ring and I make sure people call me on that number for important things. I think having it mute sometimes gets the person who is calling you mad because you do not get to answer their call or text right away. For me, I do not want to hear it ever so often ring just to read a message but would rather hear it when somebody only calls.

I keep in mute only if I happen to sit in a class room or any other important places where silence is maintained, Other than that I just put in normal ring tone not causing disturbance to others.

I mute my phone all the time unless i have to use it as like... an alarm for some reason. I honestly find it annoying when someones texting in public and their phone keeps going off. Def if its like in the theatre(for whatever reason) or a restaurant.

I usually keep my cellphone on silent mode if I am out of the house. I turn it off simply because I don't want to attract attention if someone texts or calls me, esp. in the cinema. I also turn it off when I am going to sleep. I just turn it on when I am inside the house.

I do mute my cell most of the time, because it will causes very disturbance in my work. It is a noncence phone when we were at work. Every one noticed that the cell companeies are giving frequent calls regarding the ringtones and caller tones. It is very much disturbance for every one. I will keep my phone on mute to avoid all these unnecessary calls during my work.

I mute it because it may interrupt the thing I am doing then. Besides, not everyone like your cellphone calling music, which may freak them out. It's just a respect for both people around me and myself.

I do put it on mute most of the time and set a vibrating mode instead. This way i don't disturb other people with my ringing phone.
