Would you like to go back in time?

I often think it would have been a great time living back in the 1800s. I know life would have been a lot simpler then, even though there were difficult times. I would like a life with less crowds, less cars on the road, more open space and a slower pace. It would be nice if we could return to this way of life and still know what we know today, in terms of medicine, communication, etc. I guess I want the best of both worlds.

id like to go back to the very old times.i mean the times of the kings.that way i could tell them about stuff from the future and they would think im a god...id get everything...noble treatment followers women.also people would bluntly obey me and id get evrything i want....just imagine what theyd think when i show them my cellphone or laptop.....or they might just kill me thinking im a sorceror or something

Well, that is a different take on what I was thinking. I guess you are right; you may be treated like a god or you may be treated like a sorceror. In either case, it would be fun to find out. Just hope they would not think you were a warlock and burn you at the stake!

Sounds good to me although I really would like to personally see how life was back then. I can get a glimpse of it by reading history books or old newspapers. Researching your family history sometimes helps get a clearer picture but I still would like to know what it feels like to not have so many cars on the road or houses crowded together and to take life at a much slower pace than we do today.

i would love to go back in time......i would love to go back when i was a small kid....who had no tension in life....his life was going smooth no worries about his future......the one who used to enjoy every bit of his life.....and also try and changes those things in my life that have changed it so much like some of my decisions and the best part would be showing them the latest gadgets which would give them shock.....hehehe

I agree with you. It would be fun to go back in time and try to change some of the decisions we have made so that our lives would turn out differently. We can dream, can't we? The gadget thing would be really cool, to be able to have some of the benefits of today's life while still having some of the wonderful things of times passed. Such a neat topic to think about. Love the feeling of escape from reality. Life does not hurt so much that way.

Well, you are an easy one to please. It is nice to hear of people who love their life and who are content and think it is almost perfect. You must be a happy, cheerful person. That is a neat place to be in. It would be nice to have a "rewind" button. We could rewind to any point in our lives or even farther back. Oh what fun we could have. Rewind, fastforward... fun, fun. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I would love to, because past generation has more simple that the present time, less complication and worries. Life was simple then and seems full of fun and innocence. I want to go back to the time where the house structure was still built by large woods and nipa hut and very large, not like now that we must fit ourselves in a very small and terrible condition in subdivisions.

Well, we are just wishing and dreaming here. You have to be happy that you are so young still. I wish you could go back for what you missed when you were 10 years old. That is the problem. If we could go back, could we change the events of history? Would I not have made the mistake of marrying someone who I would not end up spending my whole life with. It is fun to speculate.

No, I LIKE my air conditioning! I don't think I'd care to be without central heat and air. Sure, getting to ride a horse a lot would be nice, but I would miss my dishwasher, my clothes washer and dryer. Probably the only thing I wouldn't miss is the jerks with their "getto blaster" cars and their too loud rap or tajano music.

If you did some research on life in the 1800's you would not want to go back even for a visit. I was born in the 1930's and that's plenty far enough back for me. There are countless reasons for living in the present. In the 19th century preservation of food was difficult. Can you imagine living on potatoes and salt pork? No transportation, the furthest you might ever get from your home was the distance a horse could trot in a day. Education. Children were needed at home to work. If you got to the third grade you were lucky. My Father was born in 1905 and he had the 6th grade. Women didn't get to vote, and if your daughter got pregnant before marriage it was a Terrible scandal. There were No Birth control methods. Everybody had between 5 and 10 kids whether you wanted them or not. No Hospitals, or health care of any sort. No communication except as fast as a horse could run. People were old at 45, 50 was ancient. Clothing was bulky, uncomfortable, home made, and not as warm as modern clothes. It took all day to heat the water for a bath in the winter. Imagine carrying it from the river through 4 feet of snow. Clothes were washed by hand and hung up to dry in the house. When you had to go to the bathroom, it was out behind the house in a snowbank. Imagine sitting on an icy board to do your thing, and finishing up with a page torn from an old Sears catalogue. I'm just getting started. Should I go on, or will you take my word for it, and love life in 2009?

I would like to go back the the Little House On The Prairie times...ahhh, get your chores done and off to the old swimming pond to take a dip on a nice hot summer day. That's my kind of living, out among nature. This is why I love to camp so much. Just go fishing, take a walk in the woods, listening to the birds, sleeping in the nice fresh air, telling fun ghost stories, watching the little animals run around. That's where I'd like to live for sure. I think I was there in another life and obviously loved it.

What a great discussion you have put up here! Thanks for sharing it!! You know, I many a times have had this idea if by chance we do a mistake and we feel to correct it, how nice it would have been if we were able to go back in time and correct ourselves or do a whole lot of stuff, we thought about. It would a whole lot of fun. If we are able to switch back time and if we are able to know the current technology, then it would be really great as you never know that what the ancient scientists might have been able to invent combining their knowledge our current technology and then we might be able to know more things that would be unimaginable to think of. Just thinking about a fusion of the old and the new world. Happy Mylotting!!

I would much rather go to the future where we cure all the problems. Fusion generators mean everything goes green. no more oil. Teleportation so you won't need a car. Travel to distant worlds on vacation. Global climate control so it's springtime all year long. With genetics, we are all great looking, can eat all we want and never get fat. Knowledge cures it all! It's only going to get better!!!

I am really more interested on what's ahead but if I get the chance to go back in time --- yes, i definitely would. It would be awesome to go back to the time when my parents were still in their teens, to get to know how they were back then..their interests, their dreams....I guess we know our parents today simply as MOM and Dad...they seem to have a mature nature in them -- practicality. But don't you ever wonder how they were in their teens or early 20's??? I bet my mom was hottie bakc then...hehehe

I'd also like to go back in time, i'm such a simpleton and don't like big crowds and high speed cars driving around. Even if the life was simpler there was problems, yes, but the problems also were a little more simple back then. These days there are every kinds of problems in the world, which we, humans, also are partly guilty for. We should be the protectors and farmers of the world but we just make up problems, i guess it just can't be avoided. But i'd definitely like to live in the 1500's or 1600's!

Although i love the technology we have right now, sometimes it makes me wonder how simple life could be in the past, rather than live the complications of today..
