This discussion is not about who is the greatest player or who is most consistent etc.,.It is just a comparison of the batting styles of three of the greatest batsmen of the modern era.
It really depends on what sort of stroke play you like. While Tendulkar is surely a purist and a connoisseur's delight,I think Ponting and Lara are more exciting to watch. While Tendulkar is all grace and timing, the other two have a touch of arrogance attached with their shots.Their initial movement and then the launch into the stroke makes it a bit more exciting to watch. When Tendulkar bats everything seems to be at peace, but the other two lure you into a false sense of insecurity only to dispel your fears with utter disdain the next ball.It is this extravagant and arrogant batting that makes Ponting and Lara exciting to watch.
Compare these knocks and you will know why
Tendulkar:143 vs AUS at Sharjah
Ponting:2003 WC final and Lara:400 vs England
There may have been better knocks but these were the knocks that came to my mind.

Sachin and Lara are more exciting for me. Ponting always struggles against the quality spin attack and Lara, Sachin do not have any such problem. Sachin knocks in 2003 World Cup were all highlights for me, 143 against Australia in Sharjah too was awesome and in the final he played a match winning innings.. I like all the knocks which Lara played against the Aussies and when he is in full flow then no bowling attack can stop him. Ponting knock against India in 2003 World Cup was something special and his knock took the game away for India..

undoubtedly Tendulkar.because when sachin is in full flow, all the strokes he play comes from the middle of the bat.when u see ponting and lara's innings they are not so good at middling the ball.even in lara's 400 & ponting's wc knock there were many thick outside edges.moreover, when sachin is playing in full flow it is like watching a classic art.it is so wonderful to watch because he doesn't try to shuffle across the crease or slash the ball hard.that's why often commentators call some of his shots*************CLASSY TENDULKAR**************

hi ,
i am great fan on master blaster...off all the players you mentioned ,they have their own creative shots which hook us...but ,in a full flow,i prefer sachin, since his style of batting surprise every moment and you cant predict what shot he is going to play the next...his new style of hooking the ball above the keeper is really catching up in youngsters..

Sachin tendulkar. There is no doubt about it. In full flow sachin can take apart any bowling attack and really show us the true beauty of crcket. The grace which sachin has is just so great

Good question.
I like the three players. the way they plays is spectacular for our eyes. if you asking which batsmen i like the most is, i would Tendulkar. this is because i saw him playing since i was a kid. i love his style more than anyone. next to that is Yuvraj Singh, i think its similar to ricky ponting. i like ricky ponting because of his backlift of the bat, also brian lara. but as a batsmen ricky ponting is most sucess batsmen, because their team is always winning. for sachin and brian they are under hugh pressure when they playing. they knows that the team depends on them.

Left handers are always great to watch.I appreciate Tendulkar's consistency but to me Lara stands out first & then Ponting just for the sake of watching them bat.Lara is all grace.Ponting's pull shot & the cover drives are a treat to watch.Lara coming out of the crease to play the spinners is also a treat.Even his cover drives are sure to make everyone happy while watching them.
So I would put Lara , Ponting & tendulkar in that sequence.

undoubtedly its sachin but only thing is that when he was young...the young sachien playing those leg glances and straight drives are pleasant to watch...it is a treat for our eyes..
even ponting and lara share the same bond, it is sachin who facinates me..

you have pointed out yourself the difference between sachin tendulkar and the others.i would any day watch a sachin tendulkar innings especially the sharjah one which is one of the best one day innings according to me. but tendulkar can innovate as well. the straight drives he plays are the best in the business and no one can play the paddle sweep as well as him which isn ot an orthodox shot. then he shimmies across to the off side and plays the ball to the leg side which again is an innovative shot. you forgot how powerful tendulkar's punches are especially on the off side and he hit some huge sixes in when he was in his 20's. my choice is sachin tendulkar.
