I'm new here in Manila. I just transferred in Technological Institute of the Philippines just few weeks ago. And my classes during Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays is up to 7:30pm and I always walk on an overpass. Is it really dangerous to walk there at night?

Well there are overpasses in here that are dangerous at night. I guess just check before going there if it is well lit and there are many people going there. If you have a companion or a group then it is better. I think its much better that you walk as a group than go alone in the night.

Good day to you rsa101 you are right about your response! If you are walking with a group I'm sure those people who will do bad things will be scared to your group. well, here in our school at night we always walk as a group to enjoy the bonding of our group of friends. But honertly the best way is to avoid those dark place where you think that there was a thief which is only waiting for a victim.

Hello jules? Good day to you. For me 10:00 is already the most dangerous time in that place because the number of people decrease and already resting so it only means that the chance for you to be help was low and you do still need to fight for your self or just avoid those overpasses, so you can able to avoid those thiefs at night.

I guess it is really dangerous. 'Coz you may get your bags or wallets or jewelries snatched specially if you don't have any company. That's my thinking.

730pm is still early. lots of people are still walking in any overpass. however, you must stay smart all the time and take care of your things, because wether its night time or day time. or less or more people, anything can happen. so you must always take care of yourself and grab your things with you tightly for you to be safe always.

Hello marites31, good day to you. Me too I agree in your response that 7:30pm is to early if you are in Manila because there is still a great number of people who are walking around and just in case there is still people at your side will be fastly help you. Then as a sort of advised do not walk in a very dark place for you to avoid some accident.

Im working in a BPO company and I was robbed by two male strangers around 1:00 am in an overpass here in Ortigas MRT Station, when i get to work on that day. Looks are very deceiving nowadays and you can't tell who are robbers in your way. I hated during that time since it is still within the teritory of the MRT admin, they didnt have any security personnel roaming around. Thank God I was not hurted but all my stuff including my cellphone and my money were taken. Well, these are just material thngs and they can be replaced at some other time.

I haven't tried to walk on overpasses at night, and why should I? Just like what flaky said, we don't know who's the robber nowadays. So all we have to do is to take care and be wise, if you know it's dangerous why should we go that way. If there's no choice try to find another way which is safe.

I wouldn't want to make you paranoid but I definitely think you should keep your eyes open. Around 7:30 it's not quite dangerous yet but later than that is when you really should be worried. Make sure there are a lot of other walkers with you to be sure. There might be some people cooking dinner at the overpass, and, on occasion, an exhibitionist or two, so watch your step!

you just have to survey the area,. if there are people using the over pass like in the quezon ave-edsa overpass even at 11pm then yes, no prob. Its just a matter of being vigilant and i guess lucky for some.
I've been walking thru different overpass,. and thankfully,. nothing bad has happened,

i think by 7:30 or 8 there's still lot of people walking there...but its better if you do not walk alone for we do not know how safe it is or not...i remember when i was still living there that there's one time that i go home late and need to pass on the overpass in Commonwealth...i am very afraid then because there's no one around and i'm afraid that there might be someone there who will do bad things to me...so what i do is keep my self alert and walk as fast as i can...and when i finally reach the other end, i feel relieved...i promise my self not to do that again...coz we really never know...
so my advise for you is to always stay alert and as much as possible don't walk there alone at night...but i think there are some overpass that have guards in thre...not sure...
take care and goodluck to your studies...

Walking through overpass at 7:30 is still a bit fine. But when 8pm onwards approaches, you must be so careful because that's the time when the bad elements or criminals roams around the University Belt and their targets were the students. If you have some friends that can accompany you, try to be with them because those fools only strike the single students walking..

Hello allenbucks, Good day to you. Well, honestly in the history of that place theres so many dangerous event like hold-up, stealing of things to other people, and etc, that we see in the telivision news which is true. Even this things are happenning to our surrounding we must still give trust to other people and increase of alertness so if we encounter this we know what the things that we will do. By the way, allenbucks me too my schedule in college is at night which about 6-9pm everyday. Even though may schedule was too late already, I never get scared because there are still good people that is ready to help other and to those cops that is always there for those citizen who need hand.
Then as a sort of advised my friend, If you're really scared when walking at night, why don't you try to bring selfdefense things that will really helps you a lot. Well, that's all the end of my response here in your discussion. I hope you find it interesting and you appreciate my response! Thank you! Happy posting and happy earning to all of us.
