Hello my dear friends,
On the morning of June 21st,2009, I heard on the local radio that we have a confirmed swine flu case in our town.
The person who is having this H1N1 is a six-year-old boy, who came to our town together with his two siblings and parents a few days ago by plane from America.
It is said that they are Chinese Americans. Now nineteen people who have had close touch with the little boy are quarantined in a city hospital for safe observation.
It is said that the boy is confirmed to have H1N1. I hope that he will be better soon.
I think that I must try not to go to crowded places for safety unless I have to. I am feeling a little scared of swine flu as I will have to take a trip by train in ten days or so for my summer vacation in my hometown.
Do you have swine flu cases in your place?
What will you do if you have to travel on a plane or train during this special period of time when swine flu is spreading globally?
Take care, my dear friends.

"No need to panic about swine flu
Published:Jul 18, 2009
DEAR DOCTOR: A mother and son wait their turn outside a hospital’s emergency room in Buenos Aires. Picture: Natacha Pisarenko

With more than 114 confirmed cases of swine flu in South Africa, medical experts insist there is no need to panic as the current strain of the virus is similar to that of seasonal flu.
And with millions of children heading back to school tomorrow, health and education officials have urged parents not to be alarmed following two reported cases at private schools in Gauteng this week.
The executive director at the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), Professor Barry Schoub, said the outbreak of swine flu in South Africa was similar to ordinary seasonal flu, although it was spreading faster and was more likely to affect younger people, who were less likely than adults to have built up “some sort of immunity” to flu viruses.
“It’s very similar to seasonal influenza both in terms of how it is spreading, as well as the severity of the disease. It appears to be fairly mild, like our ordinary seasonal influenza,” he said.
Schoub added that while respiratory infections, like swine and seasonal flu, spread in school-like environments, there was no need to panic.
“Internationally there haven’t been any recommendations for school closures and we’re following that. What we are recommending is that if a child does have flu-like symptoms, he or she should stay at home for at least seven days as a precaution,” he said.
Spokesman Fidel Hadebe said the Department of Health was monitoring the situation, adding it was working “closely” with the Department of Basic Education .
Department spokesman Granville Whittle said pamphlets would be distributed at schools explaining what swine flu was and general hygiene practices to prevent the spread of it and other such diseases."
May God bless You and have a great time.

Hello my friend williamjisir Ji,
So nice. Please educate others as well. Further, as I undersatnd, use of MASK should be
limited by people suffering and not by everyone, as it spreads wrong message to masses.
It is a precautionar measure by person suffering inorder not to transmit to others.
Medical staff may use as precautionary measures.
May God bless You and have a great time.

I can tell you where I am living, it is scary to see. They have the er set up like something out of MASH at most of the hospitals in Queens. I was a little taken aback and well it almost seemed as if a plague had been set in my neck of the woods.
It is all over here but then again we also have had deaths here in NYC from the Swine Flu as well.
Take care out there.

Hi William ~ as always you produced lots of quality discussions which never failed shared the common interests value in it. In this area of health issue which verified by WHO as pandemic, I can't say that my living area is swine flu-free. Because pandemic means its spreading pattern and formation is borderless and disregards the geographical area.
HAZARDOUS PROPERTY OF SWINE FLU
This kind of disease is much much much dangerous compare to HIV virus, where HIV virus only infected to those first party and third party involvements in their life style activities. Where at least, HIV virus is a known source of occurrence and with various steps for prevention.
But, swine flu able to jeopardized human life through air and tangible objects and never knows who we are and what we are doing. Its property really indefinite and unknown in both areas of source and remedy. That is why, WHO only provides stockpile the vaccine named as tamiflu to any country in 257 countries listed in this world, once needed. Its killing factor is a government business in one country and not general public business.
Very least for prevention action to be taken, which only one, to avoid be in that such situation or area or geography location. Its tremendous super fast effect really more than scary and imagination.

Yeah sure dear friend, to avoid any third party talking to you you must wear the mask and you write up words for "Please Don't Speak"...hahahahaha! the train ticket conductor won't ask you for the ticket if you mannered that way - free ride mannnnn!!!
Talking about "Please Don't Speak", I remember one of my eardrums soothing song(not my faves one, actually) by Alicia Keys - Don't Speak.

hehehe, but I usually get a ticket first before going to the train station to catch my train, otherwise I will have to stand all the way back home on the train like I did last time, so tiring. I cannot suffer it any more. Besides I am no longer young to suffer from it. lol. Good night, my dear friend.

The past months, our DOH was so busy for the preparation of the swine flu kits. Every patient who shows the symptoms, be it a fever with a swore throat or the usual flu, being attend to or even quarantined, schools are being suspended and offices being closed when one found to be a suspected carrier but lately they realized it's not a big threat maybe as now seemed to be no longer an epidemic, everyone just lielowed, no more panic and having normal lives. Glad however, we have nothing much to worry.

Thswine flu finally arrived in my area. It is no longer of a case of tourist coming ill with the symptoms from abroad but it is spreading from locals to locals. We have forty cases up till now. I hope it will be contained but it seems difficult to do so. In summer you have lots of people going out of their house and mass gatherings in feasts and concerts.

Take Vit C an Vit E. They are both very good vitamins. Before i moved, i was staying sick, quite a lot. Now i still take the vitamins. Vitamin C is really a necessity if you are trying to avoid public disease and germs. Start with 500 mg a day, then in about two to three days, move up to 1000 mg a day. Some people take much more than that, especially if they have a sickness or like i had, the gall bladder problem. With the gallstones and gallbladder, i was up to 4000 mg a day.

hello, sir..
the case is getting bad to worse in our country - up till now the number of confirmed cases is 80... most of them 'imported'..
we even have one case in our own town, a young boy who came back from holiday from Melbourne. in fact, most the cases in our country are travellers who came back from overseas - especially Melbourne..
my boss had actually travelled to Melbourne amidst all these.. and actually one of the person confirmed with the flu was on his flight... not he wore face mask in the office - all the other staff were instructed to wear mask as well, as preventive measures.
but that was more than a week ago.. he's okay - no signs of flu or fever ever since he came back, so we're very much relieved...

It is lucky of your boss not to have got it. Otherwise he could have been one that spread the flu among people he stayed in contact with. It is relieving. Take care, friend.

Well no . There have been around 40 cases of Swine Flu in Delhi .
Apart from 1 or 2 ; who contacted this from persons already having this flu , the other victims were from Europe or USA and in one case from Mexico .
However, these people have been quarantined in separate wards in Hospitals .
Besides, there have been cases reported from other Indian cities-
Hyderabad , Bangalore , Chandigarh etc
We need to be very careful when travelling and otherwise too.
Regards

I am really getting the swine flu scare. I am a mother of two young kids, 4 and 2, and that's why this flu is really scaring me. As much as possible we avoid crowded places, and I only bring the kids to the play area on regular days when it is not crowded.
There are swine flu cases here in Sydney, BUT where specifically, nobody knows. So the best thing for me to do is to take my vitamins regularly especially high dosage vitamin C for protection.

Hi williamjisir , have a nice time mylotting here now.
I heard also from the news that our country has already
cases of this virus. If I were you I will be wearing mask
for the trip and keep away from many people after the
time. Drink enough vitamins for the shield of the virus.
If ever you feel head ache you immediately drink first
aid medicine so that you will not be weak. I think weak
erson or resistance easily got the disease.

Hi there Williamji Sir. I am sad to report that my country is not free of this plague. Although only a few cases were reported, i just heard yesterday in the news that the 3 cases (in the city or country, can't remember exactly) are still in a bad condition, and they are still under quarantine.
I don't know what to do about it, i guess there is little that i can do... i guess protecting myself as best as i can and keeping a good hygiene is important.

Well, i was also started to worry when the cases of H1N1 flu had started to increased in my country. Now, i seldom go out from my home. I only go out when it's necessary to buy some household things. I even had started to avoid crowded places when i am bringing my son out for shopping. If you had to travel during these days, it's better to wear the mask, as it's quite protective. But, the best way is always remember cleanliness whenever we go. Always remember to wash your hands when return home. Hope this H1N1 flu cases will gone soon...

Hello friend. I am glad that I have the habit of washing my hands frequently, but I am sorry to say that I am not used to wearing a mask as I feel shy to wear it if nobody is seen wearing it. This afternoon I had a travel by bus from my small town to the capital city of the province. I just didn't talk and face anybody on the bus for safety. I also hope H1N1 will be gone soon. Take care, friend.

There are continuous reports coming out here saying that newly infected persons have been confirmed to have HINI viruses. For my safety, I just choose to stay at school and try to go out as less as possible. Fortunately, around the 400 confirmed patients so far, more than 200 have been cured successfully and been able to return to their normal life. The truth is that residents of this city seem to be more calm this time. Maybe it's because swine flu is not that fatal compared with SARS which swept through this continent several years ago. Anyway, we should still care more about our health and prevent ourselves from diseases.

i live in mumbai, india.we just reported our very 1st case a few days ago.i heard he is really showing good signs and recovering.anyways, 1 case in a city of 15 million isnt much really. i heard the international toll has crossed 30,000.people dont have the guts to step out of their homes in mexico.the virus is completely treatable using tamiflu.so governments must only concentrate on detection and prevention.im sure we can win this fight.we usually have a large pandemic every 50 years or so in the human race, and never has anything been big enough to wipe us out.we will rise above this too.i mean 20 years from today your gonna be like "hey do u guys remember that whole swine flu thing"....and ur friends will probably look at u , bewildered
