MyLot Friends?

Are you familiar with each and every friend you have on myLot? I pride myself on at least being able to recognize their names when I see them. A strange thing just happened to me. I was browsing through some of my friend's discussions when I came upon one that caught my interest. Now this person was listed among my friends, but I did not have a clue about them. Has this ever happened to you? I know that I have hastily accepted a friend from time to time and later thought, now why did I do that? What about you?

Yes, I recognize their names and am learning about them by how they respond to posts and such. There are some I don't have a clue about and I think they are just wanted to add freinds. Ya, I have wondered why I accepted some of the ones I have on my list. I never see or hear from them again. I have to reject them but......?!

I know, celticeagle, that it is difficult to reject friends requests, but I now find it necessary to do so.

I have many friends listed on my list but there are only about 20 who start posts regularly. I have it set so I get an email every time Any of my friends start a post. The 20 I recognize but then there are times when a friend starts a post and I think, oh they are friend? Cool. The Only reason anyone gets on my friends list is because I can respond to their posts, period. That's how I choose my friends.

That is a good system, sarah. I get so many requests, and I hat to turn down anyone, but I have started to do so lately.

I hate it too. But if I can't respond to their posts, how can we bond? But when a newbie requests a friendship but hasn't started a post, I keep them as a pending until they start a post. I want to give them a chance.

I recognize names and Avatars, but people change Avatars and if I have limited time to be on Mylot, I may loose correlation with name after looking at different Avatar. Some people are not much active, so I may not remember them even when they are on my friends list...

You are right, pola. Most are easily identified by their avatars, but some do change them from time to time.

Hello, well! most likely I dont remember their user names. I just go with the pictures If I can recall one. Mostly I just go to friend's discussion and non of them do that to me. I will be surprise if this happened to me or it could make me scare tho... but dont worry... he/she can't do anything to u right? just ignore if you can

I usually stick with the friends discussions as well, smileonstar, but once in awhile I like to browse through the top discussions and contribute something there also.

I'm not that good in memorizing names but I can recognize them by some means. However as for now, I only got 3 friends so I wouldn't have any [roblems recognizing them or memorizing their names haha! But I'm still in the process of learning here in myLot. Hope I could grow group friends here someday. ΓΌ

I remember having this problem a long time ago. I assume that it is easy to add friends and then forget their name if you rarely see their discussions, but I had numerous friends who had never made a post. There is no chance that I would add a person without posts as a friend, so I cannot imagine how it came about.

I think that many of the newbies fail to understand what the "friends" concept really involves. They just want to add friends with no thought to participating in the person's discussions, Asylum.

I would have to say, that most of them, I would recognize. There are quite a few that I know quite a bit about.

Yes unfortunately there are lots of people on my list that I really do not know. They never seem to post and they certainly do not answer my few posts. I end up deleting them eventually because they are really not friends, just nics on a computer.

I have not found it to be true, sriskeerth, that if you have many friends you will get a better response to your posts. With all of the friends I have I am lucky to sometimes receive only a few responses.

lots of people add me to their friendlists and i accepted it. although i dont memorize each of their name but when i saw someone start a topics i know that she or he is in my friendlists, most especially those who are so active in posting their discussion. i dont talk to them but we exchange emails for some opportunity online.

It is good, Ruby, only if they reciprocate by participating in your discussions. I don't understand why they would request friendship in the first place if they are not willing to interact with you.

Actually i do not remember all of them, but i do remember them when they have good discussion or response specially.

I have a lot of friends who are on my friends list. There are a lot of them I know by name, and will respond back to their New discussions all of the time when I see them, and then there are others it seems I never hear from. Lately I have been going thru my friends list from time to time and removing people I never hear from, or no longer active in here as well. So it can be interesting for sure.

I've seen photos of some of my friends so I can put a name to a face and a face to an avatar. Without this ability I get confused as to who is who and I really cannot claim to know someone. Yes, I can "recognise" some from their user name but to me, it's not the same. I can't equate an online friendship with one in the flesh either. I went through a stage of adding anyone who asked for my friendship and a lot of those I've not seen or heard from since. I don't have any idea who they are...they will be removed when the time comes.

I am familiar with most of my friends and their names here at Mylot with acception of a few new ones I acquired here recently. I accept all friend requests also and try to be active and friendly to all of them too.

Hi Worldwise1, I do remember many, but I don't expect the same of them as I've been in hibernation for quite a while now. But thankfully, I too can pride myself on having a good long-term memory - so most of my friends, if we have discussed on at least a few occasions before, are less likely to be forgotten by me. I'm sure I've seen you in my discussions, you're a veteran and I definitely remember you. So, how have you been? Cheers!

I am not really good in memorizing people's names, especially if I have only met them online. However, for some Mylotters that I frequently meet here... I get to remember them. Sometimes, there are also Mylotters who created a great discussion, which makes me easier to remember me. Regarding your question about not having a clue to some of your mylotter friends... and it happened to me a lot of times. But I usually visit their profile to check on them. Seeing that they have a website is a big help too.

I follow my friend's discussions, and am in regular email contact with a couple of them. I notice one or two friends don't seem to participate in the kind of discussions I like, so it may be time to remove one or two. I think with friends, as with posting, quality matters more than quantity. I'd rather have a few good friends than lots that are never involved in the same discussions.

I am starting to be more discriminating about accepting friends, Sandra, because I've learned that I never hear from the majority of them once I accept them.
