Music today, is it deteriorating?

I was listening to the radio the other day and came upon a song where i could never understand a single word. It was more of shouting and screaming. Music before has meaning and it's lyrics somehow tell stories or narrates the composers feelings. It is now rare to find and listen to new songs which has a good melody and good lyrics. I am only 29 but I consider most the music from the 50's up to the 80's more pleasant to the ears than today's music. So, is the music today deteriorating?
