I have a lot of things on my mind right now. I don't have enough sleep and I'm always in the go... Before, I deal with stress by letting myself have a power nap but it's not working for me anymore. So most of the time, I turn to smoking to deal with it. But it's just so unhealthy. I wanna lessen the habit until I completely get rrid of it(I wish)!
How about you? what do you do to cope up with stress?

hey net, usually when I'm stressed I turn to prayer for ease and comfort and it works all the time. Smoking will not get the stress out. It will actually add to your stress and make your heart work faster than normal. But here a couple of additional things I do to cope with stress:
1) Prayer and meditation - this may sound bull and waste of time to you but believe me prayer works all the time if you give it a chance. Ask God for guidance, wisdom and strength and he will direct your path and kick the stress out of you.
2) Drink water! - people under estimate the power of drinking water. When you're stressed, your give your heart double the job and most times it can't cope with pumping blood that is not available therefore your blood flow short circuits and thats how you get headaches, muscle pain, acne, insomnia etc. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day rejuvenates the body and helps the regulation of blood flow which ultimately helps the heart beat at a normal rate. It also paves way for your brain to help you think straight.
3) Do some exercise - Go to the gym, take a walk or run, cycle and get outdoors for some fresh air and keep your body occupied.
4) Stop over thinking! - that only crashes your brain cells which in turn give you multiple headaches and migraines.. tackle one problem at a time and don't wobble all over the place.
5) Find a new hobby - you will be surprised how introducing a new hobby in your life can boot out stress. I recently discovered the power of knitting. Knitting relax me and it guides me into thinking in a straight pattern.. Another great hobby is pottery. That always creates a state of ease and peace. This will distract you from the stress.
Of course everyone has a different way of combating stress. These steps help me when I'm all stress out. Give it a go and see how it will benefit you.

There are a lot of ways to deal with stress, I get stress headaches, so I've had to learn to cope with them, so here are a few things I do:
1. Exercise: go outside, take a walk, relax your mind or go for a full core run, let all the stress out.
2. Eat: when stressed, don't skip meals, just makes you more hungry, grumpy and leads to being more stressed, and if you tend to over or eat a lot of comfort food, exercising is good for that reason too.
3. Drink lots of water: being dehydrated just makes more stress.
4. Take time for you: its always nice to relax and not think about everything.
5. Sleep: get a goodnight sleep and be more ready to go in the morning.
6. Never skip breakfast: most important meal for the day.
7. Find an outlet: like running, writing or cleaning.
8. Take it one day at a time: Don't stress about things that can happen, just worry about what you're doing in the moment.

From what you said, I have eerything covered.. except for the never miss breakfast part... :) I don't mean to do it though. It's just that I'm always in a rush that's why I don't have the time to cook or prepare breakfast for myself. LOL
I love havinng breakfast before starting my day though. It makes me feel a lot alove and energetic. :) Maybe I could just try wking up extra earlier so that I could always do this. Thanks simplyzane. :)

Last time I used to smoked whenever I am stressed because it could make me calm but then I learnt about the fact that smoking doesn't even help at all.It is like your brain is filled with smoke and so your problems and stress turn blurry and then it comes back after a while.Nowadays,i usually keep silent and listen to soft music in order to get rid of the stress and it works...

friends its very very very easy to remove stress......
first stress is in ur thoughts not in ur brain or body.
to remove stress first forget get everything. and then stop thinking. and stop thinking in this way that dont try to force ur mind to stop just simply apply break. and dont listen to any music for this exercise even u can do this in a train bus or office.
always do this in morning about 3to 5 am cuz by that time its full silence and trust me the thoughts of other souls affect ur thoughts so in morning when everybody sleeping and their thoughts are also silent so u can experience more powerful effect of this exercise and trust me whole day u will have this power of morning exercise..
by the way make habit to stop ur thoughts in every hour of the day for about 5 minutes...it will do the magic in ur life

hi net, i usually turn to read books when i'm stressed BUT sometimes it do not work for me. Then i turn to smoke but not too much. Another better way for me is to go out or to the park for a walk alone and you will just feel good in the fresh air, you might forget what you are doing right now even the stress.

Yoga is a very relaxing class to take and cam make your day brighter.
Find something that you want to do or have been putting off and focus on it but make sure this is not a form of escapism.
Be honest about your emotions,do not deny them or repress them as this will only add to the stress.Do not be afraid of cry as this can relieve anxiety and let out bullted up emotions which can help you cope.
Keep a journal or diary where you can write down you thoughts, express yourself and analyze situations.

I talk with my man, I play with my daughter, I play with my dog.
There are two kinds of problems that will cause stress.
One: we can do something about it, so problem solved.
Two: we can't do anything about it, so why even stress about it?
Anyway, that what I do

I have recently discovered running. It is a very healthly way of letting the body relieve any tension. I also have found that as I am running I get a chance to clear my mind, even if I am only thinking about running! It's become a great stress reliever for me and is definitely good for my body all the way around!

There are a couple of things that I do to deal with stress.
If it is a specific person that is stressing me out, I get away from them! Being near them isnt going to help the situation at all. Of course, you cant always avoid some people, but you can minimize contact!
If I am really stressed out, I write. Whatever it is that I am stressed about gets typed out on the computer or written down. I rarely do anything with what I have written, but it usually feels better to get the thoughts out of my head!
I used to eat a lot when stressed, but thankfully I have broken that pattern! That was unhealthy too. Now I take regular walks and spend time playing with my cat. They help me prevent the stress which is way better than dealing with it!
I hope you find something else that works for you!

I used to eat my way out of stress before too.. but now, it's vice versa.. i don't have an appetite whenever I feel like i have a lot of things to do. It's unhealthy as well and sometimes I come out short because of this.

Believe it or not, when I am really stressed about a situation that I can't do anything about...I go on the computer and play solitaire or some game...just to get my mind off of it...It helps!

When I get stressed out, I would find a place where I can be alone because the stressful me isn't a very good company. I try prefer to be alone and not think of anything. I also do deep breathing because when one is stressed out you tend to have irregular breathing and that alters again your mental state more because of the lack of oxygen perfusion. Stress can cause many inflammations in our bodies, so learning to manage it correctly is essential. Many people have different ways to cope with stress...some sleep, some eat, and some i don't know what. But what must be remembered is to have good breathing. Try this when you feel stressed out. Go to an open space and be alone. Do deep breathing for several times. You'll be relieved how helpful this simple step can be.

There are some things that I do if being strees,.
The first think I do is read the Qur'an, because I am a MOSLEM,and I bring all problems to Alloh,.
This is the second that I have to do is be alone to think, such as moutain climbing,or the way in solitude,.
The third case that I have to do is to recount the problems my friend nier me to ask advice from him,.
That's what I do, so i feel better,..

One of the most important things I do to deal with stress is not carry stuff around in my head. What I do is everything which I need to do or remember I write down so that it is permanently recorded and then I don't have to think about it. All I have to do is go through all the notes I make on a regular basis making sure I get things done when they need to be. Just by doing this I manage to release myself from quite a bit of stress.
Another thing I do is if I am getting stressed by having a lot of things to do I switch from multi-tasking and focus solely on one task at a time giving it my full attention. You will be surprised at how much you can achieve just by focussing your attention on one thing at a time and the knock on effect is that you become less stressed.
I can sympathise with you turning to smoking as although I manage to control my stress for the most I still go for a smoke outside when ever things get to me as it does give you sometime to clear your head.

One of my way to cpoe with stress is to get rid of the task from my mind and concentrate on other things that doesn't bring me too much off stress. It's indeed a very unhealthy habit to release tension by smoking. Wish you can successfully quit it. Anyway, I hope you can find a way that works for you.

well first of all i have my schedule plan for everyday tasks and adjustments whenever an unexpected activity occur. with this i seldom experience being stressed. but stress is inevitable in every day life activities hence i have options to choose from to minimize stress first watch movies, second listen to my favorite music, third find my friend who are online and chat. fourth is shopping. yes i feel relaxed shopping in malls and groceries store even online shopping will do. Final way is to pray. after expressing doubts problems to God i found it so enlightened and stress free. In God nothing is impossible. enjoy mylotting!
