I am a beginning gardener. I have tomatoes, basil, rosemary, sage, oregano, garlic chives, cucumbers, watermelon.
I think I've probably placed a bunch of them too close together and stuff (like the oregano, which I didn't realize was going to act like ground cover.
but hey, I went outside today and one of the tomato plants has little baby tomatoes! I'm pretty excited about this. It seems like I'm doing something right!
share your beginning gardening stories or advice, please.

Oh, you will love gardening- it gives you such great results for your hard work. I have been gardening for a few years now. This year, I planted tomatoes, basil, cilantro, rosemary, banana peppers, and runner beans. I also planted two different types of roses, several perennials, and some eggplant seeds and yellow onion bulbs.
The only advice that I would give is while obviously you need to make sure that the plants have ENOUGH water, be careful not to over-water, something I have done before that really does a number on certain types of plants.
Also, as your basil gets bugger, and starts to grow little flowers and seeds, pinch those tops off.
I hope you enjoy your garden!

the basil is kinda pitiful. it got chomped by some earwigs that live in my garage and is finally recovering, but I don't think it's going to do very well.

I am also a beginning gardener. I've seen where I've done good and where I went wrong. I am having problems with my tomatoes though. They sprouted up and looked healthy but now the tomato plants are starting to wilt. Don't know if I'm watering them too much or not enough.
