Today I read a discussion and noticed that one of the My Lot members that had responded had stolen someone else's writing. Another My Lot member provided a link to where the article came from. The My Lot member had copied word for word. I was really shocked. I looked at the My Lot members profile page. The writing was by an American man that really liked beaches. I think it is wrong to copy someone else's work and it makes me annoyed. I begin my own discussions and respond to with my own writing to discussions on My Lot. I have been a member of My Lot for a few years. I guess questions like "What is your favorite color" will have been asked before. It can be challenging to think of new discussions to begin.

Yes, you are right about it...we should not intentionally copy the discussions of other people...they worked hard for it...we should think of new topics on our own...those kind of people are called "freeriders" in economics...haha

I think some new people are so eager to start discussions, they either don't bother to search for existing ones or don't realise they shouldn't duplicate discussions. I usually ignore it, unless a topic is a blatant copy of a really good discussion. Then I'll report it and point out to the discussion leader that they should think up their own topics and not steal other people's.
I don't post many topics, as I'd rather wait until I have a really good idea than just post anything. I think some people are under the mistaken impression that they have to start lots of discussions to earn, but it's quality, not quantity, that counts on Mylot.

I say that most of the people who do this do not really think much or maybe they do not realize what they are doing. I do not think you can have violent reaction to this because you do not actually know the people who do this...and it is not such a big deal although it can be a little offensive.

Yes, it is really offensive... I hope we can be more creative and resourceful in thinking and finding new and relevant topics...so that all of us here learn more.

No violent reactions at all. I think we all of us have done this without our knowledge. Ti's hard to monitor all the discussions that have been posted here. Who knows, there might already be a discussion like this buried somewhere in mylot. If someone intentionally copies discussions, I think less people would respond to it because most have already given an answer to that kind of discussion.
