I just realised that mylot users are from all over the world! What country are you from? Do you have certain traditions? How did you find Mylot? Why are you on mylot? Do you find it hard to understand some mylot users who can not speak or understand english properly? Please share!

Yes, mylot is truly a magical land!
I am from India and stay at Kolkata, city in Eastern India.
I found mylot just by pure luck...I was surfing aimlessly and came across this place, I liked the format and well, here I am.
I am here primarily coz I like the bonding of this place...the money does matter too. And this site genuinely pays for your efforts.
Well, some mylotters are a little difficult to understand though they are very sweet about it...they acknowledge their poor English and their eagerness to improve upon it. In general I understand what people are trying to say...I think I have come across one or two discussions which were completely incomprehensible to me because of the framing of the sentence.

OMG! What are you coming to Kolkata for?
Like most other metro cities, yes, Kolkata is unsafe specially for foreigners at certain areas. It is advisable not to roam about alone in the late hours (the city does not stay awake past 10pm)...so keep that in mind. Its OK in broad daylight but be careful of the potholed streets which are a serious threat to your ankles.
What time in September are you coming...its monsoon then and be prepared to wade in calf-deep deep mucky waters. But if its end of Sept, then its grand festival time here, indeed that would be the best time to take in Bengali food and culture.

Thank you for starting this discussion. I have recently become very interested in diversity awareness and respect and am studying it as a means to a peaceful global community. I think it is wonderful to be from any country and have your own traditions as long as you respect the country and tradition of other people. I found Mylot by chance while I was looking to find work as a writer. I am on Mylot to write to promote peace in any which way, even if it is a tiny baby step. I am also on Mylot to give myself a job writing. I usually do not find it hard to understand most Mylot users. I didn't know that MyLot was an international community. That is very exciting because I am interested in studying the use of respect toward different people as a means to achieving peace.
