For those who have no idea what is a maid cafe, it is a cafe where their waitresses are dressed in uniform full of laces and, IF I remember correctly, they greet their customers 'welcome home, Master' when they entered. These cafes are very popular in Japan, especially among the guys, and I am curious if there is anyone here who had been to these cafes. Do share your experiences if you have been to these cafe. =D Happy mylotting~

Akiba Guild: Maid Casino - The popular Maid Casino called "Akiba Guild" was announced that it will have an official booth during at the Summer Sonic Festival 2008.

Summer Sonic is a music festival that is host to many local and international acts. Coming in as a second after Fuji Rock Festival, Summer Sonic had about 180,000 visitors in 2007 and has experienced rising ticket sales ever since it was first held in 2000.

The booth will be placed in the special "Sonic until morning" section, a spot reserved for all night DJ's and film screenings, and will enable the guest to engage in Black Jack and Roulette games. Just like in the original casino in Akihabara customers will not be able to win money but rather recieve the usual gifts and presents like cheki (small polaroid with the maids), stickers etc. custom in most proper japanese maid establishments.

The owner of Akiba Guild and the Organizer of the Summer Sonic festival have stated that they expect a huge party where the customers will enjoy fun games together with the staff.

This seems like an interesting new step into an area outside of the ususal Akihabara culture.
Oh nope, I havent been to one of those cafes. We dont have them here and I really havent been out of the country, much less go to Japan and enter those cafes. Though do they permit female customers there or strictly for males only? Not that Im seeking that kind of female companionship.LOL At least when I have been in one of them I can honestly say that I have and might even have the pictures to prove it.^_^ Well, since that I havent been there yet, I cant really say that now can I?^_^Anyway, I have seen a feature of those cafes on "The Duke". A men's lifestyle show on AXN. The hosts did enter a Cosplay Casino where the dealers are wearing maid outfits and they played a round of poker. They also interviewed the receptionist maid about her job and the whole concept of the thing.

I have not yet been to one too, but I think they do permit female customers there. It will be weird if they will to refuse to let someone who is going to spend money there to enter. I have not heard of Cosplay Casino though, it is interesting how people are capable to think of interesting ideas like that.. Lol.

Yeah, I guess anyone is permitted as long as no one is breaking any laws and the business is still getting profit. Well, cosplaying, shortened for costume play (where people dress up like their favorite anime character or just a maid outfit or other outfits that they want; kinda like on Halloween) is very popular in Japan. I just used the term 'Cosplay Casino' to describe a casino where their dealers are wearing maid outfits.^_^

Not only have I been to a maid cafe, but I got to preform in a little silly stage game that they preformed. It was similar to rock paper scissors, but they did a cute little bunny rabbit dance teamed with a cute song heh. I didn't win (mainly because I couldn't speak perfect Japanese and didn't know what they were saying) but the winner got a signed picture with all the cute maid girls. Another interesting part of the maid cafe experience is that they refer to you as "Master," though the Japanese equivalent escapes at the moment, some "sama" suffix though. It can be a little awkward at first, but order their "special" drinks hehe. They will do little dances as they make your drinks. They tried to translate the song and dance, but did so poorly (or creepily) because they ended up saying "My heart is in your drink" over and over again. I LOVE JAPAN. All the best.
