I'm actually spending short time in front of the computer. before I can't feel the effect of the radiation from the monitor. Now I can feel the effect of this in my eyes. I'm not using eyeglasses for i can't afford yet.

I don't know if I believe computer monitors are bad for your health. I have been using computers every day for more than 20 years. All day long as a computer instructor and I have worked with people in the industry for that long. The only thing I can say is that my eyes get tired by the end of the day, but the same would happen if I watched TV all day, even though I sit 10 or 15 feet away from the TV. I have never had any medical conditions as a result and of all the people I know in the business I have never heard of one issue. I get my eyes tested every couple of years and actually my eyes have improved and the glasses I have now are not as strong as the one's before. People spend a few years on computers but don't take into consideration that fact that they are aging too. So if you get older and need glasses I wouldn't blame it on the computer screen. :) My personal opinion only.

One of my brothers who works as a programmer had the same problem. Because his work involved him spending a lot of time in front of his computer he started to have a lot of problems with his vision blurring. There are some simple steps you can take to avoid straining your eyes. One of the best ways is to make sure you take regular breaks where you don't look at your computer screen. Just spend a few minutes to relax your eyes every 30 minutes or so. Also make sure your eyes remain at a distance of about 18 to 24 inches from your screen. Some other good tips are to; Have a potted plant near where you work. This will provide some moisture in the air that will help your eyes. Plants like spider plants are also suppose to be excellent for removing harmful chemicals from the air that your computer might emit. Ensure your brightness and contrast settings are at a comfotable level for your eyes. Make sure your computer screen is not reflecting light from windows or other sources of light. This can cause glare making it hard for your see what is being displayed by the computer screen, thus causing strain. Tinted eye glasses or screen radiation filters are always a good investment if you use the computer for long periods of time. Hope these ideas help you out:)

well actually that is one thing that is a big problem for all who are exposed to computers for a long time. so that is something that i do agree with you. but then there are ways to overcome that. now a days there are LCD monitors which can very well when it comes to get rid of radiations of CRT monitors plus they are also a lot energy efficient so that is also something which is very important because the more energy we use the more we are contributing to the pollution of the environment. so in short i can say that we should keep our eyes open. not all technological development are useful but some are for sure. and we should opt for those.

Stick with flat panel LCD monitors. They don't emit the radiation you get from CRTs. If you are using a CRT monitor you should take regular breaks and not sit too close to the screen. Generally the radiation from a CRT shouldn't reach more than a few inches from the screen but better safe than sorry.
