Who Watched Merlin?

I was just wondering if anyone other than me watched the new NBC series opener of Merlin last night. I enjoyed the show, but I must admit that it bogged down in a couple of places. I think it will be a hit. How about you? A nice little touch was the airing of clips from the new Harry Potter movie that will be coming out next month. Given the subject matter, and the high interest in magic these days, I would say that the series will do well.

It wasn't shown on cable, Aurone, but on NBC. I don't have cable myself, or I would have missed it. It will be on again next Sunday night if you're interested.

Maybe I will catch it on the website. I never got that converter box thingy, so I can't even watch the free channels.

because I only watched bits and pieces I cannot say really, I didn't get enough of it to form a valid opinion, it seems okay with lots of magic, old hags changing into young women, serpents coming alive on shields, etc.

Series two has recently started on BBC here in the cold and wet UK and it's brilliant! I loved the first series - I think it's a very entertaining show, very funny at times and fun storylines. Light hearted stuff, not to be taken seriously though! As to Arthur, he definetely grows on you as the series progresses. He still is a bit pig-headed, but you see different sides of him too. As the series goes one, Arthur and Merline are just really really funny! They have this great comic chemistry and there's a few scenes I was laughing my head off at! But I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet! But I will say it gets even better, especially in series 2!! As for how it differs from the original legend, I like that. It's a new take on the legned (which of course has a few different versions anyway). It's interesting to see both Arthur and Merlin as young adults coming to age and how there friendship develops!

I must admit I didn't watch it. I have seen so many versions of the story that I passed this one up. Glad it may be a hit. Maybe I will catch it sometime.

I can't remember her name now, celticeagle, but there was an author who wrote a very good series based upon the Arthurian legends. I used to have all of them. I am always fascinated by the stories.

It was very interesting and it's so magical. About Harry Potter, i read the book, it's quite more interesting compare with the past HP. I can't wait to watch the full movie. Happy posting.

I watched few episodes of Merlin in our local cable channel. But for no reason at all, it went out of air. Nevertheless, the show really catched my attention. I really like the magic, the drama, suspense and comedy in everyh episode. Although the series is quite different from the original story, it established a wonderful plot. It show the teen years of Merlin and King Arthur and their struggle to be prepared for a tough challenges and big responsibility ahead. It's good to know that these two tough and serious characters have their mischievous sides. I just hope our cable operator will give this show a new timeslot or I would just resort in buying DVD of the first season.

When I heard about it I was so excited. The story of how Merlin came to be Merlin, with Anthony Stewart Head as the villain, Uther Pendragon. But I am a HUGE King Arthur nerd and when I saw a commercial for it and Arthur and Merlin were the same age and Arthur knew his lineage before becoming king, I had to control an urge to throw T.H. White's The Once and Future King at my television. Needless to say, I didn't watch it. I was greatly saddened by the butchering of this story that I have spent the majority of my life reading, watching and adoring.

merlin - its merlin
i rather like the show merlin, but im assuming that we are in different countries as the channel that airs merlin is "channel 10" here. I really like it, it has a great story line and i think it has rather a lot of thought in it. Plus i like many magic based shows:) I wonder when he will grow that massive beard that all the old stories involving merlin claim he has...
