My mom works on the internet she sells jewlery and costume jewlery on Ebay... Well she has had to have her business offline for over a month because we were having a crosscountry move and things kept going wrong, she finally got it back up, now she has a reasonably old computer (2004, 80 GB Hard disk space, 512 MB ram etc.) and she now has a very interesting Adware on her computer, one our Kaspersky antivirus (which IS updated) and our SpyBot Search and destroy can't find, it does this very annoying thing, it plays a sound only commercial every 3 minutes about, and it slows her computer WAY down, she can't do anything on it when she needs to most, and its driving us all nuts, we have run searches for this sucker but can't find it. the commercials are for thins like lysol and mucinex... and having an adware like this that compromises the performance of your computer should be labled as a virus -.- Anyone has any suggestions for how to get rid of this adware?

Yahoo anti - spy is pretty good at getting rid of things like that. It's part of the Yahoo toolbar which is a free download from Yahoo.com. Try it if you are still having this adware problem.

It sounds like reformatting her harddrive is the only solution. Make sure she has everything important backed up! I've gotten some really nasty viruses in the past, and I just had to reformat everything. I use an external hard drive to keep all of my important files on so that if something goes wrong with my computer, I can take care of it easily without losing anything I need!
