itouch ? can i unlock n still use itunes store?

hi there my son saved for over 6 months and he had $200. the government gave us a bonus in out pension so we added the other 109 so he could buy the 2nd gen 8gb itouch. but as with everything apple,(which i hate with a passion mind you) it came with the itouch, headphones and the cable to link to the pc.(which also charges the itouch when plugged in.) after reallising that there is no charger other then the cord to go to the pc (of which you dont want to leave the laptop on all night just to charge the thing up.)its a usb port, we tried in the usb port of the tv, no luck, we have a universal charger in the car with usb input, no luck doesnt work. any ways they wanted another $40 for the mains power charger, we found one for $20 but not the original apple one a generic brand you might call it. we thought all was good but the back is silvery chrome like so we where up for more for cover, more for screen protector which i managed to source from ebay and i also managed to pick up a car charger for it too at a good price from ebay. after feeling like a never ending teller machine with all that my son downloaded a movie and we though, ( like the ads say) we will connect up to our lcd tv and watch it. But wait thats more money cause you need a special cord for it to connect. another trip to ebay store and another $20 (what apple charges is too scary to list) anyways after all that my son found some games free online for his itouch but the itunes store wont verify them so they can be moved onto his itouch so he can play them. apparently theres some special software summit or other break something or other that you can put on andthen you can load the games on with no worries apparently. yes apple want more money for games application etc to put onto you itouch through their "itunes store". any ways i was wondering if anyone know of the software and if i do use it is it safe and can my son still connect to the itunes store, if he gets the prepaid cards, or will that software prevent him from using it and will itunes do something to his itouch if we put it on etc. i was just wondering because i know with the nintendo wii if you chip it and put it online they "brick" it and it then becomes useless and cant do anything with it not even turn it on.
