Going to funerals:Showing sympathy OR Just going 'coz you don't have a choice?

I don't see why people still have to go in some relatives or just somebodys funeral when they barely even know the person. I mean I dn't disrespect the dead it's just that having funerals is something one attends to to sympathize that person and give the last farewell to your old buddy or friend who was ince so dear to you. I notice that almost everybody who attends a funeral doesn't even care about the dead person lying in the coffin. Some even don't show their respect for the dead. They only go there just to have a short family reunion, or because of their curiousity of how the person died,or just because they don't have a choice because their mother or father had force them to go. Going to funerals are supposed to be meaningful in a persons life.But howcome,others just don't see it that way?
