Scientifically it is true. I have read in some journal that male user are risk prone as they are using laptop in their lap. The plea is that from the laptop device one type of radiation coming out which cause infertility problem amongst male. But if some one use laptop placed on the table I do not think there will be any problem.

I dont`t think the heat produced is harmful. Although I use laptop like you almost a whole day. Maybe is the radioaction emitting from the laptop that can do harm to human body. I think we can use a screen to shield our body and keep healthy. Hope you enjoy everyday.

I was thinking about that too. I had a laptop & I did not like the fact that it got real hot like that. I was thinking about getting one of those things that are on the tv that let you put the laptop on a slant than it allows the air to ciclate seemed pretty cool. I hope this helps but I am more of a desktop girl.

No, I don't think it's harmful (considering you're a woman and there's no risk of that) Still, despite the name, I think it's hot to put it on your lap, even with pillow. Don't you think it's better to place it somewhere else, like on a table or just anywhere?

I sure hope not, cos that's what I use! But I don't use mine on my lap, it's on the table, and I'm on a chair. I know a lot of heat is generated, but I just hope that nothing comes from the screen, cos I am close to that. Good luck to you, and be safe! Probably the pillow is better to use.

As others have mentioned if you are male it can have side effects when it comes to sperm count but there have also been several reports of people receiving minor burns from using a laptop too long on their lap. Eveidently although you feel the heat after a while you start to tollerate it and that is when it can damage your skin.
The other thing is most laptops either draw or blow air through a fan which is located on the underside of the laptop and by in advertently blocking this on your lap you can cause the laptop to over heat. Which in turn does have the knock on effect of damaging the components inside.
My suggestion is to either buy a proper laptop raiser so that it lifts it off your legs and provides a gap underneath or just get a simple tray, like the ones people use to put their meals on infront of the tv and use the laptop on this.
