So many parents these days are getting their children circumcised, so i'm wondering when i have a son, should that be done?
1. Should he be circumcised?
2. What is the origin?
3. Are you, your son or husband circumcised?
4. is it good or bad?
5. do you have any stories about it?
thank you for your input!

I personally do not support circumcision. I believe that it is wrong to permanently alter a person's body who is not able to give their consent, for nothing more than a cosmetic preference. I started thinking this way when I learned about female circumcision, or "Female Genital Mutilation," that is practiced in many cultures in Africa and Asia. It is a practice where part or all of a girl's external genitalia are removed, and it's generally considered to be a violation of human rights because it causes pain, and because the girls who are circumcised do not have a choice in the matter. I realized that male circumcision is really no different. It too causes pain, and the male child has no choice over what is being done to their body.
Many people feel that male circumcision leads to better hygiene. Reality check: bathing regularly and proper washing leads to better hygiene, without the need for a surgical procedure. The human male body is designed the way it is for a reason, and for normal, healthy males circumcision is simply unnecessary.
My husband is not circumcised, and he has no hygiene problems or any other problems. If I ever have a son, I will not have him circumcised.

Whatever squeamish people think about it. I think it is a good idea because it is very hygienic. My stepson is Muslim by Birth and he had it done and so has my Father in Law who although isn't Muslim did it for health reasons. My Mother in law swears by it. She says women tend to catch less diseases when their men are circumcised. I haven't had it done, being Chinese I wasn't exposed to it and at my age now in my 50's I feel it is a bit too late.
