OK, Lore says that the only being that the devil ever loved is God. As an interesting discussion, which this site needs, back this up or dispute this. Give your reasons, pro or con and back it up. This could be a great discussion if we don't act like immature idiots.
I personally believe that if there is a satan, he only loves God.

The trouble is that there is a lot of 'lore' surrounding Satan (as in some of these answers) but the Bible gives us very few hard facts.
Job has him regularly communicating with God, whereas we tend to think of him excluded from God's presence. We think of him as ruling Hell, whereas in the Bible he has a kind of (limited) dominion on earth.
I don't think we know very much about this character although we seem to have a lot of preconceptions which are fed by 'lore' rather than biblical reference. I believe that Satan exists, but I make no claims to know any more than that because we are simply not given enough information to build up an understanding of him.
I don't know why any being would choose to oppose God if indeed it was his choice, in a way he is carrying out God's plans. The only conclusion I can draw is that this is the character least understood out of the whole Bible, and possibly the most mis-understood.

I agree with you. I have often wondered about the conversation with Satan and Job in the book of Job. Thanks for this comment.

Love, by definition, "..is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous....does not look for its own interests....rejoices with the truth..." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
The term "devil" means slanderer, or liar. "Satan" is also a title, meaning "opposer" or "resister".
If someone claimed to love you, and then went and slandered you, getting others to believe you are responsible for all sorts of terrible things, would you believe them?
If every time you tried to do something good, a so-called friend gave you hassles, resisting and opposing your efforts, would you keep their name in your phone book?
As an onlooker, would you accept the assertions of a friend's ex, who insists he commits all his stalking and badgering and slandering, because he just can't let her go, he loves her so much?

The story goes that The Devil was an angel who loved G-d so much that when G-d had all the angels serve humans, The Devil refused and that's how the feud began. So I guess it is the love the devil had for G-d is the reason for this war.

Hi cyntrow, From what I've read, satan knows that if he can entice us to sin, our actions will bring sorrow to the heart of God. We demonstrate our love to God through our obedience to Christ, in this case, satan couldn't possibly love God. Satan is the master deceiver, and he hates the Word of God, therefore, satan hates God. Thank you for listening.
