Right now, you can list up to five items on ebay, with no fees. So now is a good time to list your products. I do believe they said that you could list five items per month with no fees.

Yes, as far as i can tell, they just sent me another email, telling me that we can list five things every month for free.

I have become so weary of eBay and their fees and bizarre policies that I started to look for other sites. I have recently started selling on eBid but it's too soon to tell how that will go. The fees are much cheaper, you can list for free if you don't add a bunch of frill.

I have never heard of ebid. Do you sell much, what do you sell? Are you sure its not an ebay sister site? Maybe they are playing around on another site? I will definitely check it out if the fees are cheaper. Thanks, I wonder if ebay cares they are losing so much traffic and customers?

I am very certain the sites are competitors, not related. I have just recently started selling, so I don't have much experience for you. I do have a friend who sells a good bit on there, though. You can sell the same things as you do on eBay, just cheaper.

I haven't tried listing on this site yet, but a couple of people have told me they have sold several things on bonanzle.com (www.bonanzle.com). You don't pay any listing fees, as far as I can tell. There is a final value fee when you sell something, but it's lower than ebay's final value fees. I've seen a lot of publicity about this site, but eBay is still probably going to draw in a lot more customers than any other auction site, just due to their size and popularity.
I usually have to take Pay Pal on eBay because I sell books and they will only allow Pay Pal payments with books now. I try to incorporate the cost of the Pay Pal fee transaction into the price of the book, since a lot of customers simply won't pay anything they see as an extra fee on a transaction (even though the seller has to cover that same fee).
I don't use debit or credit cards much anymore for purchases, just due to budget restraints with the economy, but at one time if you had a Pay Pal debit card and used it as a credit card when making purchases you could get a little bit of money back into your Pay Pal account. It didn't work if you made a straight debit purchase with your Pay Pal debit card and it didn't work if you used a normal Pay Pal credit card. You only got the fee back if you made a credit purchase with your Pay Pal debit card. It was never very much money back, just very slight, but it did help a little to cover the Pay Pal fees. You might want to check with Pay Pal to see if they still have that program going. Even if it is a tiny bit of money back, money in your account, no matter how small, is still money in your account. Good luck with this.

There are many other auction sites, but few have as big of a potential customer base as Ebay. You could try posting some things on Craigslist, which doesn't cost anything. As far as the Paypal fees, I make sure the customers pay me when I sell something on ebay. Charge a small handling fee in addition to shipping to compensate for paypal fees. The fees at Ebay are pretty set in stone, unless you have a nonpaying bidder, etc.
What types of things do your sell on Ebay?

I have been selling a lot of new tools, but they price I get is pretty random, sometimes a lot, sometimes not much. It's annoying because I am never sure of what my profit will be, sometimes there isn't any.. Craiglist sounds ok, have you used it before? How does the customer base compare with ebay?

You might want to try iOffer.com. I tried this site last winter and did fairly well with it. There are no listing fees, and just a small selling fee. You can also list items for a lot longer on iOffer.
Good Luck!!
