Well, i would say my mother is the first person, who taught me how to do cooking. My mother started to teach me how to cook when i am only 10 years old. It's because my mother always fall ill then i had to help do cooking for the family. From my mother, i learned to cook Chinese recipes. I learned by my own to cook many other kinds of recipes through recipes book. So now, i am able to cook Thais, Indian and even Western food, too.

We're similar. I had to learn to cook a little more better and different kinds of dishes than I was cooking due to the fact that mom works alot. Most nights, we take turns, but when she works late or is not able to be here, I have to cook for the family. I usually volunteer.
But that's awesome.
Chinese would be fun to learn to cook!

My grandma taught me some cooking basics and a few recipes like pumpkin pie and deviled eggs. But I didn't really learn how to cook until I was about 19. It was a combination of two things: first, my grandparents went to spend the winter in Florida and left me home by myself. I had to learn how to cook if I wanted to eat. Second, I started dating a guy who had a whole family of people who loved food and loved to cook. My boyfriend and I would cook dinner together pretty often, and I picked up some useful recipes and skills.
Over the past couple of years, I've also been watching the Food Network and getting a lot of really useful ideas and tricks. I look up the recipes online, and I just follow the directions. I've gotten to a point where I can make my own recipes, and they turn out pretty darned good! I consider myself to be an excellent cook now, and I'll only get better.

I love to cook but I just don't have so much time. I learned to cook by experimenting and at the same time observing. I grow up without my mother on my side. She had been abroad working for about 10 years, so during my teenage years, we missed her a lot. But now we are trying to make up for lost time together. We just don't agree on some ways, though like when to use seasoning or not.

That would be my mum!.I pretty much learned how to cook by watching her in the kitchen. When I was a kid I loved to watch my mum cook & bake especially on special occasions (thats when she would whip up a storm!) and I still do love watching her cook every now and then! She also has this huge stack of recipe books filled with her own recipes and dessert creations some dating back to her younger days.

lol moms are great teachers. I love to observe my mom while she cooks too. She's not much of a baker, I'm pretty much the one who loves to bake, though I haven't really baked in a while. I always go to my mom for the advice on cooking. Wow, I can't believe that some of those recipes and dessert creations date back to her younger days! that's just amazing, :) happy mylotting! thanks for responding

Since my grandma took care of my sister and I for the majority of the time when we were still young, we learn how to cook from her. She'll take me how to cook rice, eggs, noodles and just all sort of stuff. But now that she moved out, I have to learn from my mom. But sometimes I get lazy and I don't want to learn because her method of cooking doesn't require instructions and I need it to learn. But anyway, I think now that i'm grown up, I can learn by myself since I have internet. I just need to buy the right ingredients and then I can cook.

Remember to pay close attention to how long you should cook things. Also, that most times vary depending on the oven or stove or whatever.

I learned from a very young age by experimenting and having an eagerness to do things for myself. I was never really taught, though I do know some family recipes, it just basically came to me. I love to cook, so now I can gladly say that I am basically the master of my kitchen hehe. It's a fun thing to know how to do, and when you cook with someone you love, like my boyfriend, it can make some great memories and help with bonding. To me, cooking is one of the most fun recreational things to do hehe.

My fifth grade teacher taught me. We had cooking class during our elementary days so i guess she's the first one to ever teach me how to cook. We first start with egg since it's the easiest to cook and there are more ways to cook it. Then we proceed with the main dish. Any kinds of dish really. Then the project was to prepare a full meal complete with soup, side dish, main dish, dessert and so on.

Ive learned to cooked just by reading and watching tv shows about cooking. But i am not a good cook still trying to learn. If i saw on magazine any recipe or watch something new recipe to tv shows i am eager to cook for it as long as the ingredients was with our kitchen. Nobody, my room mate has given me some ideas. After marriage, I downloaded various recipies from internet and tried them. Most of them came out very well and a few were flop. My husband encouraged me. I like cooking. Every weekend I will try atleast a new dish.

My mum taught me. I'm English so most of the dishes/techniques that my mum has taught me over the years generally involve cooking typical British dishes from the Sunday Roast to Shepherds Pie. I tend to roast a lot of foods when I have the time as it's a simple technique yet very effective for the right cuts of meat as well as potatoes and certain root vegetables. As and when I'm able to expand my weekly food shopping budget I'd like to experiment more and more with game meats and foreign cuisine but I'm grateful for my mum's advice and tutoring. I didn't cook a great deal until it was time to go to university so my mum gave me a quick crash course and to this day it's something I really enjoy.
