Do you think the Stimulus Plan is working?

It has come out recently through a report by Tom Coburn that a lot of money from the stimulus plan is being squandered on what seem like pet-projects. Obama told us that if we passed the stimulus plan then unemployment wouldn't go above 8%, it's now 9.4%. The interest payments alone from this spending could pay for the war in Afghanistan twice over.
Do you think it's effective now? Did you think it would work at the time?

I think unemployment is actually worse then that, they're just behind the 8 ball. No, IMO the stimulus isn't working and will not, He's trying to get history books written about him like FDR, which FDR's government programs didn't work either. So now we build a bridge for 6 months, hire a couple workers, buy the steel for rebar from china, then lay them off again, then move on and build a turtle tunnel under a highway or something. The other thing is we're printing this money from thin air, you better buy a house now cause in about a year you'll be looking at thru the roof interest rates.

I agree with your conclusions, foursox. The Stimulus bill is riddled with projects like the turtle tunnel in Florida costing $3.4 million that you mentioned. It creates no long-term employment and it generates no revenue once complete. We may as well be paying a yacht maker to build a boat, sail it out to sea and sink it. Exactly the same final result is achieved either way.

Obama sold a package that would "jump start the economy". Last I checked, jump start means an immediate reaction. Not only was there no immediate reaction, the lying sack of maggot sinews never intended it to do so.
The Stimulant Package was nothing more than a way for Obama to funnell money to his Hyenas in ACORN and a few others. He's nothing but a common thug.

PS: I think the 17% of the Stimulant Package that ever had anything to do with Stimulous in the first place is probably working. The rest of it was never about stimulous, so how could it work?

I don't think the stimulus plan is working in the way it was sold to the American people. Unempolyment isn't going down, jobs are not being created on any scale that will balance those being lost daily, the stock market is in a major correction at present and the future of our contry is in the trash can because the taxes will be so high we can't live and the value of the dollars we will have will be less than the paper they are printed on. As I heard on commenter say this morning, the stimulus wasn't about helping our ecomomy, it was about the democratic party repaying their constituents with $$. To me the whole idea of a stumulus plan is a fiasco.

I had hoped it would work for the sake of the country. However I didn't really think it would and it hasn't.

Furthermore I believe Obama has created a debt that not even our kids and grandkids will be able to pay off! He is digging us further into debt and is making a healthcare plan comparible to England's which will deny life saving procedures to those over a certain age!
I think it is ridiculous! It almost seems as if he is trying to purposely ruin us! And people are constantly going along and if you dare speak out you are racist or a right wing extremist!
He apparently can't handle criticism and I got news for him.. If he can't stand to be critisized he picked the WRONG JOB! Any and every President get's critisized for something or another! You gotta have a thick skin to survive it...

I don't believe it's working...unless you work for a company that does road projects since that's the only thing I'm seeing down here in Florida. The unemployment rate is also misleading because there are millions of people...like me...who have used up their benefits so we're no longer part of the equation. We've simply vanished into thin air...and still don't have jobs.

The labor department considers you in unemployment statistics so long as you are unemployed and seeking employment. It is not based on who files for unemployment or who is recieving benefits.
I do agree that unless you are working on road or bridge projects, or studying the smell of pig manuer, it's not helping you.

I don't think the stimulus plan is working, nor did I think it would.
Why? Because we are printing money that we don't really have. I don't think bailing out companies that have mismanaged money is good for business. I think the fastest way to recovery (would be the hardest way). Most people don't agree with this, but I think allowing people to learn from their bad choices is best.
I think the stimulus is only prolonging the situation. The stimulus is a band aid on a sugical wound. In the end, I don't think the USA is going to rebound in the near future. I think it's going to be 10-15 years before we see any real growth. Because too many jobs and homes have been lost.

It is clear that the stimulus plan will work now, because with the increase of jobs in our economy will grow a good way. Thus we can at least try, to reduce the damage caused by the recession mainly by failure of large companies that have left thousands of unemployed
