How is the recession treating you financially?

Hi guys. It seems clear that we are in a world recession. The only problem is that because we work online and make a daily living. I have almost been de-attached from the situations that others face. We have not had any dire financial situations or cut back. Instead we are earning more money..online freelance writing really works and we have the freedom to do whatever we like. I don't have a credit card and we saved for a whole year just to buy a couch. I guess we have been the sensible ones. I mean we still fly to South Africa (business class) twice a year to see our family and we are planning to buy a new car. I still have my treats and occasional takeaways when I am lazy to cook. I just wanted to know how the recession is treating everyone? Is it really all that bad and whats the worst thing you have had to change financially?
