Americanized Coraline?

I am a fan of the book Coraline by the English writer Neil Gaiman. I know that a film was released recently based on the book. I also know that Dakota Fanning does a voice and I'm kind of wondering if the film is set in America. I always thought it was set in Britain. Not that it matters, but I thought that this added another layer of charm to it.

Hi threnos! I loved the story Coraline. I think I'm dyslexic because I just realized it is Coraline when I watched the movie. I read and re-read the book but I still got it as Caroline. Haha. I wonder what's wrong with my eyes 
Anyway, I love both the book and the movie. I find the movie very entertaining. The mother with button eyes is very creepy
